February 24, 201115 yr For some reason I cannot start any of my prop aircraft, whether the default Cessna or Carenados C182Q. Either if I follow the checklist or when using Ctrl-E, neither works. The prop spins for a while but the engine does not fire up and then after a few seconds the prop stops spinning and RPM drops to zero. The default Cessna Caravan starts OK, as does my Aerosoft Twin Otter (both turbo props), but my lowly C152, C172, C182, or Piper just will not fire up.Can anyone think what could be the cause, as I would like to take a flight in my Cessna?Cheers,Stuart

What aircraft do you have set in your default flight? Bert
February 24, 201115 yr Usually this has to do with the mixture control position. Be sure you move the red mixture control to the forward position before starting the aircraft. Or, press the Ctrl. Shift F4 key combination. This always worked for me. Also once you have the aircraft running you can save it as the default flight and then you won't have the problem again. fisheye
February 24, 201115 yr yeah, put my vote down for no fuel, because even when the ctrl+e doesn't work, then time to start looking in the gas tank! Ciao!
February 24, 201115 yr Stuart - all the above plus check the Fuel Cut Off switch (found on the instrument panel bottom left on the default 172).
March 10, 201115 yr Author Thanks for all the suggestions, but unfortunately still no luck, even Ctrl-E doesn't work. Can not even start the Trike, either manually or using Ctrl-E.I have checked and set:Fuel = Full 100%Fuel Cutoff = on positionI have no problem starting turbo props - e.g. default Cessna 208B, it seems to be any cylinder engine aircraft.I suspect that by shutting down using the turbo prop - last one used was the Aerosoft Twotter, some parameter has been set somewhere which is now preventing prop aircraft to start.Does anyone have any other thoughts as this is driving me bonkers.Cheers,Stuart
March 10, 201115 yr Hi Stuart: I think you should start the sim as normal, with your turbo prop aircraft; switch to the Cessna 172, running or not, hit the ';' to save this flight, make it your 'default flight', and then exit the sim. Restart the sim - the Cessna should come up at whatever location you set. Go through the switches and levers, make sure you have fuel, then do a start. If that doesn't work - try the Ctrl-E again. I think this has to work. If not - go get X-Plane. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

I can even start engines with the default C208 (turbo-prop), get everything running smoothly and then switch to the Cessna 172 and everything just dies, and wont restart. I have tried the Bravo, and the KingAir too, but nothing - also third party props are all the same. Engine prop turns but doesn't fire up.There must be some 'techi' Flight-Sim guru out there that can point me as to what may be the cause ????

Make a backup first!Edit: Next step would be to uninstall the Twotter.. Bert

This reset the default startup situation to the Trike - but still no joy.I have decided to do a Repair with the FSX disk - so will see what that does.Stuart

Yippeee - but don't know what caused it.Stuart
