March 1, 201115 yr Unless you are a real world pilot using the RXP Garmins for training there is close to zero added value with current pricing for the full RXP WAAS deal - its just so out of wack compared to other FS addons.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
March 1, 201115 yr I believe the unlimited version is way overpriced. Earlier versions delivered cross-fill capability at an affordable price and I used that combination extensible. RXP changed the name to Unlimited, added TCAS and quadrupled the price. In my personal opinion Jean Luc jacked the price up to give the 'appearance' it is not a toy and for Pro's only as there is no justification for the pricing. I certainly won't forget this gamesmanship and will not support RXP in the future.Bob.. Bob Prince
March 1, 201115 yr One hundred dollars to add cross-fill capability and TCAS to the 530 is absurd., agreed. However, 50 bucks for the 430 and 50 bucks for the 530 is a heck of a deal in my book! In fact, I enjoy these gauges so much, if an airplane doesn't support a means of integration it is almost a deal breaker for me! At any rate, if you were to buy just one unit from RXP it should be the 530 as it provides by far the most bang for the buck. It's just too bad the Sandel SN 3308 EFIS isn't available fsx! But I guess I can't have everything.
March 1, 201115 yr Author Here is the answer on the Reality XP support forum : Bottom line... If someone has an issue about the price of product, then perhaps they should seek out another hobby or another solution. You get what you pay for, and in our business pricing is directly related to how much the developer has put time and effort into a product and to continue developing software in the future. March 1, 201115 yr Here is the answer on the Reality XP support forum :No comment...BenjaminSimmers constantly want absolute realism without having to pay for it. A new version of something comes out - first question: "Is there a discount?"Realism = TimeTime = MoneyI think the price for boutique products like PMDG, RXP, LVLD etc is pretty reasonable considering the labour put in to achieve the realism simmers crave for.David David Porrett
March 1, 201115 yr Author Simmers constantly want absolute realism without having to pay for it. No they just want fair price. With all the addon i bought, it's the first time I'm complaining about it.Benjamin
March 1, 201115 yr You don't really know what "overpriced" is in the real aviation world. The Unlimited Pack for about 100 $ is a great price for people who want to simulate accurately the real units and to train for real world procedures. I'm an ATPL student pilot and in our aircrafts we have GNS 430 installed: well, having this in the Duke is helping me a lot understanding the real one. Buying also the Unlimited Pack, you'll get a new level of realism, but as said before by other people, if you only use the map and "direct to" function, this addon is not for you.And to compare the price, just look at these training dvd's by Jeppesen:Jeppesen Garmin GNS 530/430 Training - VFR & Core IFR Procedures: 128,46 €http://jeppdirect.jeppesen.com/main/store/product_details.jsp?id=prod30008_caJeppesen Garmin GNS 530/430 Training Bundle - Advanced IFR & WAAS CDs: 178,44 €https://jeppdirect.jeppesen.com/main/store/product_details.jsp;jsessionid=MFKJ6MDDFxrqpnVnVhqRl42ptpHT90GcZCcNB7Fzc1JymnvJZ1h2!601322850?id=prod100032_caAbout 300 € only for training stuff to be used with the Garmin Trainer... maybe better getting the Unlimited Pack and trying procedures in FSX, as many time as you want.Regards,PS Until now, I only bought GNS 430 stand alone (because it's the one that I use in real life), but I'm seriously thinking to buy the 530 and the Unlimited pack in the future.
March 1, 201115 yr Author Since i already have the GNS530, if i buy the unlimited pack, will it be possible to install 2 of them on the duke turbine and how ?Benjamin
March 1, 201115 yr Since i already have the GNS530, if i buy the unlimited pack, will it be possible to install 2 of them on the duke turbine and how ?BenjaminI think no, because the available options for the Duke configurator are:- GNS 430 only- GNS 530+430 (so if you buy Reality Xp Unlimited Pack you can use additional features)- GNS 530 only (various layouts)
March 1, 201115 yr I think no, because the available options for the Duke configurator are:Which is realistic because in a real plane you're either going to have a 530+430 or two 430's. I flew in a Warrior III with 2x 430's. Fairly common for smaller planes. March 1, 201115 yr Come on guys. You can spend the rest of your life giving examples of why the selling price of the RXP Unlimited is not such a bad deal compared to real life. The days of "free" stuff on the internet are gone forever. These types of discussions do nothing positive for our hobby and I wish the Mod's would put an end to them. It is simple....If you want to play then you have to pay. There is no reason that any Dev or company should have to defend their pricing in a forum like this. If the op does not like the prices then send a private email and spare us all the whinning. It is just nuts! I don't know why but there's no layout available for dual 430's which is kind of weird because it is a common configuration in real life.regards,Igor

I don't know why but there's no layout available for dual 430's which is kind of weird because it is a common configuration in real life.regards,IgorTo be able to use a dual 430 layout you need to buy Reality XP 430 plus the Unlimited Pack... I don't think that lots of simmers would buy it.For the 430+530 layout you need Reality Xp 430 and 530, but the Unlimited Pack is not compulsory. Understood the difference?
March 1, 201115 yr The post on the RXP forum that was responded to was mine. While I won't give specifics, my post was deleted because I expressed that I thought the unlimited pack was vastly overpriced, and before we go down the same road as the posts above, let me explain why:With just the base 430/530 packs, I was able to run more than one unit in the same panel, with crossfill enabled. This is something they're charging an EXTRA $100 for, a capability that's already built into the units that most of us already own. So what is the $100 for? You get TAWS, sure, but most users are just looking for the ability to run a 530/430 or dual of either with crossfill enabled. As for the "additional license" that they sell you with unlimited, hate to say it but you already own it. The base packs each some with 2 units (one capable of nav/com 1, and one capable of nav/com 2.) Like the original Garmins for FS9, when that was all included. Now, I won't post up how to do that here, Im not out to undermine RXP's sales. Some may be quick to call piracy, etc, but remember that I own legal copies of the base 430/530 units, and it is well within my rights to modify them as I own the license. Where this Stems from is simply, WHY is RXP charging the $100? I guess it is business. If you can get people to pay for you to give them a fancy configuration app, that's a great business idea! I did the research and decided to add the command lines into the INI myself, rather than paying for an app to do it for me, and while RXP might not like the idea, the fact is that it's the TRUTH!
