FSX Frame Rate

Featured Replies

Hey guys,I have a problem with the frame rate at the FSX simulator, I'm searching for months a soloution to the problem and I don't found so I decided to open a topic here :)I limited the frame rate to 40, and I really get 40 FPS BUT with addon sceneries and professional aircrafts, I'm getting just 20 frames...This is really annoying !I don't know why I'm getting only 20 frames !I have a strong PC:CPU: intel core i7 @ 3.1GHZ (OC)Video Card: HD5850x2 (Which FSX support only 1 card :()RAM: 6GBI'll be SO THANKFUL for helpers !Avi Shemesh.

There are many discussions about framerates in this forum.. suggest you read a bit.The short answer is that this is not a "problem", but likely the limits of whatyour system is capable of when you load it up with addons..

The 3 most obvious things to me are below with out going into loads of detail, because Bert Pieke is right. The info is out there if you look. But here are my 3 suggestions1 Overclock your processor to 4 GHZ (this will without a doubt increase framerate because FSX is CPU intensive)2 Set FSX up as per Nick Ns Guide http://www.simforums...topic29041.html3 Check out Bojote's postsHope that helps. Also you say you are only getting 20 frames. Is that a smooth flying experience when you are getting 20 frames? If so then be happy. Turn the FPS counter off and enjoy. As long as it smooth it does not matter if its 20.Many people would be happy with 20 in a busy area with many add ons. If it is not smooth then try my 3 suggestions.

Avi. Frame rate sounds good!Peter Sydney Australia

You need a new PC. Your PC is not that strong.Strong for stock FSX with stock planes, but when you add complex scenery, weather, and complex fast aircraft, what you will experience is teens. 20s is actually good.If the sim is stuttering, that's a different problem. But, that too can be resolved with better hardware and some tweaks.

..and what i7 is it? A 920, a 930, a 940, a 950?? At 3.1 it's not at all overclocked - and that's the biggest boost your pc will give you - better than all the cfg mods and tweaks and whatnot.

i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

Is the "need a better PC" comment above a joke? lol my sarcasm detector is broken.Your PC is great, decent overclock... I'm guessing 20ish% over stock which is good... I have a similar setup with the CPU clocked to 4.0GHz, you will gain a minimal amount transitioning from 3.1 to 4.0 but it's worth it if you are feeling so inclined. I noticecd rather than max frame rate I gained a higher minimum frame rate from OC.I will tell you my experience for what it's worth.Nicks setups, although praised by a lot of people did nothing for me since they are geared towards nvidia, bjotes tweaks I never had much success with either, rather I needed to find the tweaks that did make a small difference and further tweak them for what worked with my system. The short answer to tweaks in my experience is you need to try a lot of them and play around to find a sweet spot for you. There are no real plug and play tweaks. With my CPU I found that disabling hyper threading gave me the most noticeable improvement in smoothness of game play, I have no technical reasoning to why this is but for me it worked almost counter intuitively (ie. less processing power gave me better results)At the end of the day it is an ancient pile of inefficient code that stubbornly slugs along like a lead kite. Good luck.

Like I said before, With quad core my friend has much better results !My old computer has quad core and 9800GT, maybe it have much better preformance !I'm runnung to install the FSX on my old computer !I just want to saying - thank for all the replies guys !I'll install the FSX on my prvious computer and I'll write you guys the preformance.

"Hey,I don't think so.I have a friend that he have Quad core and Geforce 9800GT and his frame rate is 45 locked with sceneries addons, professional planes and etc'."LOL.So then, why are you here asking for help? Ask your friend to show you the way to 45 fps.

Because there are supposedly folks here who can help. Some of us can spend lots of cash on systems, some can not. "Buy a better computer" is not always the answer. Adjust FSX to whatever rig you have, may be better.Bob

i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

+ one from me - set frames to 'unlimited'. Did the trick for me.

Stan
