Definitely won't be payware as I used google earth for the images. Not sure about freeware either I'm afraid, as even if I was allowed to re-distribute the google images, the scenery has seasonal/night textures as well, bringing the total size to around 2.5GB. Would take me a lifetime to upload!
Looking good but that mesh needs a lot of work, those hills look awful
Using FSGlobal 2010 for the mesh...highest resolution available for fs2004 I'm afraid. If you come up with a better mesh then let me know!:(

Not sure...think I heard something along those lines, but pretty sure Simmarket are still selling it though, under the name of 'Virtavia' rather than Alphasim.
