Curious as to why Roch edited bstolle's comments out after bstolle complained to him about it. Is the PM meant as a method for which we can hide behind to hurl insults and threats at each other, things that we otherwise would not be willing to say in public for fear of looking immature or being banned? What exactly is it about personal insults or threats to report me to the mods requires protection of a personal message? And why wouldn't bstolle put those comments up in public on his own?
Kevin,If you go on like this, I'll end up with agreeing with what Bernt wrote to you in his PM. How about calling it a day ?

KInd regards

ATC recording of the incident:

If this hasn't been edited, less than four seconds elapsed after the controller issued the "give way..." instruction, and less than two seconds after the AF PIC acknowledges the instruction, before Comair reports being struck... :(

Yes, I know. I'm getting sick of this myself. Now if bstolle will just stop PMing me.....
OK, so then no wingtip cameras yet, but why not add them? (With the optics as I suggested). The repair of the tail of the CRJ could cost more than the installing the wingtip cameras on AF's whole 380 fleet.Price check: Think of the cost of installing pen-sized Wi-Fi cameras that connect to the cokpit laptop they already use to play Tetris with (hopefully not during 30kn taxi on the apron!) As for the Wi-Fi signal not making it past the Faraday effect of the fuselage, they can vacuum-stick a Wi-Fi antenna on each cockpit rear side window, or maybe offer a discount to two passengers doing same in economy class :-)Cheers,- jahman.
Planes like the A340-600 and the 777-300 do have restricted taxi routes e.g. at JFK. IF the CRJ would have been clear of the safety strip, nothing would have happened.Especially with a widebody you have to make sure that you are clear of every possible obstacle. If you are in doubt you have to stop and call for a marshaller or wing walker. But despite the wing walker it happens that the ground staff ruins your plane by pushing it into the blast fence etc....In the case of this A380 it's e.g. posssible that they have been distracted by a cabin call etc and they wrongly 'assumed' that the CRJ continued to taxi into the gate (as usual). You do have already the cameras for the nose and main gear which are essential on these planes. I doubt that the additional cameres would have help in that case.If they didn't check that the CRJ had stopped taxiing, they wouldn't have looked at the additional camera view either.

Thanks. Done. Whatever he's gonna say, he'll have to say in plain view now. LOL.
Thanks. Done.

First, please call me David or Mr Roch or David Roch as you like and keep "Roch" for your friends at school.Second, I'm not sure the conversations you have with Bernt (Bstolle) really fascinate the members of this forum.Third, if you don't agree with the way this forum is managed you can always complain to [email protected], as Jean-Paul said, let's move on!BTW stop sending me PMs, I won't read them. :(

A small circle of friends and myself watch weekly football games on TV. One time when I showed up a little early and some of us were having a drink, or so, and the TV was on, the person whose house we were at said, "It's absolutely absurd that they actually put a program like this on TV- and, what's even more absurd is that I'm actually watching it!" Now, I'm reminded that newspaper reports about a/c accidents and incidents were so ridiculous, that I finally quit reading newspaper accounts about them. I also figured out sometime ago it's about the same with many "FS'ers and C150 pilots" making comments about airline accidents and incidents. But I would think, that the typical GA pilot, even a flightsimmer, would know a little more about making comments about a situation that he should obviously know that he knows nohing about. Asking a question is one thing, making direct statements as to the cause is another. Another thing I've noticed is that there are times a flight simmer will ask a serious question about how to do something, and an obiviously experienced transport category pilot will answer, giving the correct or typical procedure, and the simmmers and even C150 pilots will argue the point. How does a light plane pilot, or simmer, argue with an airline pilot on how to fly a real Boeing???DB.

Thank you Mr Roch. The PM I sent you was nothing more than that post. Your response here was adequate. Feel free to delete without viewing. I don't plan on complaining to the [email protected] about you since this whole thing is nothing but a pastime.

Clearly too fast and too close. I wouldn't immediately blame the pilots though, I would blame the Airlines that hired them...The tail on those CRJ's are built pretty well lol.

I love reading these arguments, especially when half the folk involved sound like idiots LOL

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I agree with everything you said, but:Wing-tip cameras would help, especially with viewfinder optics sporting a vertical bar much like cross-hairs in a rifle viewfinder: The vertical bar would indicate -exactly- what was in the way of the A380 and what wasn't. Given the enormous wingspan, a centerline mounted camera like the one on the tail cannot do this due to parallax errors and a general lack of precision due to an inadequate viewing angle.Cameras and WiFi etc. are so cheap every iPhone and iPad sports one and they are being sold in the millions. It boggles the mind they didn't place cameras on the 380 wingtips considering the multi-million dollar cost of any wing damage. 747's should have them as well.Cheers,- jahman.

Unfortunately it was common sense that lapsed here and there is no cure for stupidity. You can engineer the safest mode of transportation and still some human idiot is going to find away to screw it up.
