Captain Sim 777?!

Featured Replies

Yeah but unless you want to wait for 1 yr at least (even though they said they're simultaneously working on NGX + 777), then this may be a viable option
I'd rather not have a 757 than have the CS 757. Same will apply with the 777. The Level-D 767 is "close enough" to keep me happy till the PMDG one is ready. Not to mention the NGX...

I don't really get the context and "truth" of this statement.

Fleecing of flight simmers never stops.
You don't have to buy this. If you do, you will have to pay 10 Euros. If you find anything in that quality for 10 Euros at another dev, please report back. Apart from some freeware which doesn't achieve the fidelty, nothing comes to my mind when looking at the whole market. You then get the 777 exterior in nice detail, flyable. Later, when the systems modelling is done, a complete version will be offered at price X. Since you've already bought the exterior, you will get a discount of 10 Euros, so X - 10. So, did you pay anything extra for that "shell" you are describing?Since this "shell" doesn't come without putting work into it (referring to 'empty wrappers' from taraknbg), the price is more than fair. The discount offer is too and the release date will be far nearer than any other 777, I assume. Those empty wrappers mentioned would be a download link with nothing in it. Since you are installing some model, you get something and, as described above, there's no extra cost for you while waiting for the systems setup.Maybe some guys stick to the model only, without going for the systems. There may be some happy B-52 user which did not buy the "Driver" update and are happy with their 10 Euro buy for example. Once again, personal preference is the key and stating some things like they were a law (set up by you, ruling all others) lacks a portion of tolerance, that's my point.Must admit that my personal tolerance is heavily stressed by the guys trying to put fair offers down or jumping in every thread around to state that they are waiting for "their" dev to come. What's the point of those statements except for clearly showing that you are tired of waiting while others already enjoy some stuff? Those statements not even transport some useful information as they are coming with a 'I don't like it' tenor only and the expectation that all others then agree on this attitude. So they just show some angry men entering the more happy threads about new products.
Not to mention the NGX...
Which still isn't there and renders all assumptions towards it to be .. assumptions. Big%20Grin.gif
This whole "exterior" thing is laughable to me.Dear customers,Today we're selling coconut shells at exclusive price! There's no meat and juice in them yet, so nothing to eat, but eventually there will be and on a discount!Oh yes and I can also offer you at special price that glossy paperback cover for the book I haven't written yet!Enjoy! Is there a coconut simulator where people can take screenshots and videos of their coconuts?rolleyes.gif

I think it´s a bit ignorant to say everything which isn´t made by PMDG isn´t worth a pence. Ther are several other developers out there which deserve it to be bought. Just to say "Not PMDG, than it´s crap" is just pathetic. And what some of you have against the CS 757? I think it´s a good and solid plane and I like to fly it. I´ll definitely buy the CS777 package cause I don´t wanna wait 3 additional years till PMDG gets their rendition airborne.

Best regards, Steffen

Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
The 757 is an older product, CS has made some definite improvements, and their 707 is the proof. It may not be perfect, but it is very enjoyable and has awesome textures inside and out.

What improvements? Is the 707 a complicated airplane with an FMC and glass displays like a 757?

Flight dynamics that are more default Cessna with 2 large engines than a real 757.FMC bugs, crashes, bad lnav and vnav often with bugs. The planes themselves look gorgeous, but when they stray away from steam gauges into FMC logic it gets scary.

Well said, Steffen.Tolerance is the thing to accept all attitudes, including the guy with the PMDG love and the one with PMDG, Level D, CS, Realair, Wilco and so on installed and flying. The point where things break up though, is the one where the guys with the narrowed view try to "convince" the other people with stating that everything they do is the rule and everything else isn't worth 'a pence', as you've said.Since the guys with the "rule" mind don't accept some arguments but strictly follow their negative bias (it seems), one has to remind them about the more open minded view on a hobby like e. g. flight simming.Nice example:B747whatever, please stick to the topic. This one is about the CS 777 offer. Since you don't seem to be very confident with any CS plane out there, it's pointless to follow your "arguments" as they only collect some insulting phrases and a negative bias.We won't convince you to like CS planes, so please don't try to convince us about the opposite. Thanks. :(

Your second statement must be a joke, comparing a 707 to a 757? To answer you, no, it's a complicated airplane from the 60's with old style Doppler navigation in addition to CIVA INS support, extremely high resolution textures inside and out, great sounds, a full flight engineers panel, good flight dynamics/feel, and pretty accurate systems simulation in my experience. In my opinion, the CS 707 is a better overall product than the CS 757.

And something more for the "If it's not from XYZ developer, I could care less", as a consumer, you should. Competition is vital to stimulating producers to put forward their best product at a competitive price point.

"Impressive" viewpoint, kiwikat, and really open minded too. But I doubt that a constantly repeated rant will enhance any of the rant-only arguments to become valid ones. The thread is, was and will be about the CS 777 release. Now, after some of you were able to state their deepest feelings about CS planes in general, do you feel some sort of relief? Lets hope so, shouldn't we?As said before, We won't convince you to like CS planes, so please don't try to convince us about the opposite. Thanks. :smile:Lets get back to enjoy our hobby, some do this while constantly waiting for "it", others seem to fly a bit in the meantime.

IMO its a brilliant marketing strategy.Get people to buy a partially completed product which gives you time to complete the rest of it (as well as get some cash). Those customers having made an investment in your partial product's 1st release are less likely go buy a competitors version while you to have time to finish the rest of the product, and charge them separately for the rest of it when completed.Brilliant! :( Regards.Ernie.

ea_avsim_sig.jpg

You are right. I've even heard about a company selling 300+ Dollar manuals for a product which isn't there, not even partially, just to keep the spin going. Since this seemed to have worked out, one really has to call this brilliant. And, you must be right, those 10 Euro investment in the CS plane will hold back any of the PMDG fans from buying .. ehm, wait, logic fails now. Please go on explaining, seems like the big news are about to follow soon. Ever doubted that selling stuff to people is part of a plan nowadays? And, since even the commercial fellows try to play smart while talking about other dev's products, what do you personally think of the plane, Ernie? Just asking, seems like the thread is about the thing.

CS 777. PMDG 777. CS 777. PMDG 777. CS 777. PMDG 777. Why are we even talking about this? Get a grip people. Nothing short of PMDG quality could ever do the 777 justice. I'll gladly pay my 20 bucks or so more dollars over Wilco for twice the design and simulation. Thanks.Don't get me started on their BLOCK product system. Stuff looks nice, but it's buggy and half functional! I'm sorry they did great with the FS9 C130 and then fell in a hole with their 757. I just lost faith in them. I'll wait for PMDG and buy what I know will work as it should.

Tracon, how many PMDG 777 planes have you bought so far? Big%20Grin.gifI think that this thread is about to show more about some minds than one would expect. :(

NONE! =) What's the point?
