Are screenshots not allowed here?

Featured Replies

I posted a thread with some PMDG 747-400X screenshots.I find today that post has been removed. Why?I looked at the forum rules and it says no where that screenshots of PMDG aircraft are not allowed.Jeez, I tried to post something nice from the usual complaining that's been going on and it gets removed with no explanation. What gives?

I don't know but maybe it was the wrong subforum. The thread would have been better in the 747-400 forum...By the way the screenshots were really nice ;)

Alexander Marx

Your shots looked great, I think they have removed them to make room for their own NGX shots... :( :(

Maybe you have uploaded to large files directly to the AVSIM server? Next time use other host for images, that way they wont affect AVSIM's server bandwidth.

AVSIM disallows anything bigger than 1024x768, even if you're hosting it on your own bandwidth.

That's true if your linking your images.Images linked to the forum must be no larger than 1024 pixels wide and no more than 200K bytes in sizeYou may link to images hosted on YOUR website, but the images MUST be yours and not exceed the 1024 pixel width sizeBut if you upload to Avsim the rules below applyUploaded image size can be no greater than 1600 pixels wide and proportionatly high Images can be no larger than 200K bytes largeImages exceeding 1024 x 768 will be reduced to that size automatically when you upload, but once uploaded, by clicking on the image, readers will be able to view the full size imageSean Campbell

I removed your topic because it violated a couple of our rules. First is that you posted those images in the wrong location; not in the Screen Shots Forum as required (images are allow in other forums for trouble shooting or giving examples of issues, etc. Yours were clearly intended to show the quality of the a/c. That is what the Screen Shot forums are for. The second rule you broke is that of size. Though the images were posted elsewhere, the size of the images still must adhere to our policies, as in the case of yours, they turn the lay out of the topic into a mess, in your case, causing the user to have to scroll right to left to get the entire topic read. You agreed to abide by AVSIM's rules when you joined these forums. PMDG's are equal to, if not more onerous, than AVSIM's. But no less. Please abide by the rules.
Probably broke some of Avsim's (draconian) rules about screenshots.
Draconian?

Tom, I think if you do remove someone's post or screenshots as per the rules a email to that person should be sent by Avsim explaining why it was done. JeffG

I'm all for following rules, provided they're in an easy to see place.I spent 10 minutes before I posted my thread trying to find any sticky topic or announcement showing rules for linking images.I found none, so I posted my thread.Only now, after you said these rules do in fact exist, did I spend another 10 minutes until I finally found the AVSim screenshot forum which is at the bottom of the stack of the 100+ forums you literally have. Then I saw the image posting rules thread.Don't quote my agreement of terms for joining the forums when the information isn't exactly readily available for all to see. I'd recommend making an announcement sticky that appears at the very top in all forums regarding your image rules. And I agree you could have sent me a PM explaining this to me.In fact, I requested a private PM and you still posted your response publicly chastising me for breaking your hard to find image rules. That's all I have to say.

I'm sorry but I seriously doubt it. If images to show the quality of the aircraft are not allow in this forum, why didn't you remove those posts posted by PMDG's CEO Robert S.R.? I believe he posted tons of images to show the quality of PMDG's aircraft! And in other forum, I believe there are a lot of posts like that. It is absolutely ridiculous that someone can post and others can not!For the second reason, I'll check if all images in Robert's posts are within the limit before saying anything.I'm strongly against any forms of discremination against PMDG and PMDG's fans! PMDG forum is most active forum in Avsim and you can see all posts related to NGX broke the history of this forum!

Or instead of Tom having to email every user who breaks a rule how about the members who join the forums read the rules first. I have had posts removed before, don't take it personally, alot of work goes into maintaining a clean looking forum. I did see the pics by the way, Im still trying to get used to the new United colors.biggrin.gif

If the mods and I were to do that, we wouldn't get anything done. How about the posters taking some personal responsibility, and abide by the rules? You know, the adult thing to do. That may be a novel idea, but I am sure it would make everyone's life easier.

Hey APongr, like I said before the topic got deleted, how do you get the engine exhaust effect? I really like thatJoe Barton
