FS2 Crew?

Featured Replies

Anyone want to fill the noob in? I see there is a push button version and a speech version? Does it actually have voice recognition? Does it walk you through the checklists or actually do some of the work load for you? Any help would be great!

I use FS2Crew for the PMDG 747, MD11, JS4100 and LDS 767. The voice versions are what I prefer, but some aircraft, like the MD11, are button only. The Voice Commander versions use speech recognition both for running through checklists and issuing instructions to be actioned by your first officer - yes, he will actually do his share of the work. Depending on the aircraft, you can tell the copilot to set speed, altitude, raise/lower the gear, etc. Your copilot's response is professionally recorded by a real-world pilot. While running checklists, he will set his switches, flaps, lights etc. Have a look at the FS2Crew forum here on AVSIM for individual product questions.

Hi Ash,You're probably thinking of the new FSX/FS9 iFly version.Button version is controlled via button presses.Voice version is controlled via 'talking to your computer' via a microphone. It's more than checklists, it's complete airline crew simulation. FS2Crew models the FO/Pilot Not Flying and other crew as realistically as possible within the confines of a computer. You take the role of the Captain/ Pilot Flying. Here's a link to some videos showing various versions of FS2Crew in action:http://www.youtube.com/user/FS2CrewImportant to note: Each version of FS2Crew is different from the others. I'm constantly making them better. The old ones from several years ago are night and day compared to the latest and the greatest one for the iFly 737.Hope that helps,

Yes, the iFly versions are really smooth and slick. I guess the next step should be to add a copilot body in that empty right seat. That is about the only unrealistic view or simulation remaining.Ray

A "physically" visible co-pilot would be neat, but I suspect it would eat up too many polygons in a VC.

I love flying with FS2Crew voice, have the Level-D 767 and recently collected the iFly 737 NG voice version. To see how it will behavior together with online ATC (Vatsim) look at my video on YouTube.http://www.youtube.com/user/simbanlHappy Landings...

By far one of the very best videos I have seen.Superb graphics. One or two questions.I realise it is EDDS airport you are at,but where did you get that scenery from? And even though I'm familiar with FS2Crew's Voice Commander, and have it for the Level-D 767-300ER,I have not yet installed it as I'm still getting used to the default 737 package.I was intrigued by your ATC requests, talkbacks to ATC.What ATC package were you using because that was exactly the ATC package I'm after to give the whole FS2Crew experience such a vivid realism? Hope I'm not asking too much of you.I take it that you were using EZDOK for your camera shots?Simba? Swahili for lion, and I'm not sure if I'm on the right track here as I know of an ex-KLM pilot now retired in Kenya.Could not be you? Just a wild shot.

I've purchase a couple of FS2 Crew packs in the past ATR-72 and MD-11 I didn't use them much. I decided to give it one more try and bought the combo pack for the iFLY 737 and even though I am trying to find some way to use it I'm really not enjoying it and it will most likely be removed from my system unless I can find some way to learn to work with it. My main problem is that I use a lot of hardware and the invisible flight officer starts flipping switches as he goes about his duties but obviously nothing is being switched on my hardware. So I can call for gear up and it will raise in the sim but my lever is still in the down position in my pit. I can't see any solution for this. Without trying to hijack the thread maybe someone who uses this app with hardware can give some tips? If not at least the OP will be aware of the potential pitfall that I'm suffering.

No, I'm not the retired KLM pilot but my nickname for years is Simba (The Lion King) because it's also my astrologic sign, lion... and in Holland I'm a real life pilot (frozen ATPL) and known by this name/call sign. It's Stuttgart X from Aerosoft and the ATC is life recorded over Vatsim with FSInn. If you want to go "as real as it gets" in todays FS get your self a decent plane, (you have already) train your self with life ATC over Vatsim and the co-pilot will be delivered by FS2Crew Voice editions, really good stuff and you have a near reality simulator... I'm flying normally in 3D Vision and TrackIR but leave that out of the video because it's very difficult to create a steady view while recording. The Camera is indeed EZDOK I think that in a week or two the complete movie will be ready in 3 parts with the Eastern Approach and landing on RW08 Circle to land in Innsbruck Austria.Happy landings...

Hi Blaze,Your problem, as you say, is that you're running a Home Cockpit setup or something with lots of external hardware. There's simply no way without defying the laws of physics, unfortunately, that I can make the FO physically move a switch on your hardware setup, unless I can somehow get his hand to come out of your monitor and throw a physical switch. All you can do is ensure your hardware (ie., a gear lever or overhead panel switch) matches the FO's intended action.Best,

Can you please let me know when you've completed that video.I'll link to it on the FS2Crew YouTube Channel.Cheers,

Hi Brian, I certainly was not bashing the program it's just not going to work for me and I wish I had thought about that a little more before diving in. I did not have near the gear I do now when I was in the ATR or MD-11 :( I'm still messing around with it to see if i can run the checklists on my own and then run the FS2 Scrip and see if the FO picks off any of my mistakes but so far it's not working too well. A person like myself needs something more like the Feel There "Call" program that has the flight officer calling out the checklist and not moving on until you have completed the current task.Wish you the best and I am happy to support even if I'm not able to use your product as it's intended. Maybe sometime in the future you could make a "hardware edition" like what I mentioned above only on a "professional level" the "Call" offerings are light compared to what you've put into FS2Crew.Best Wishes,Robert

Robert,FYI, I'm working on an iPhone/iPad app may do what you want. It's just checklists. No flows. Very simple. You can do PA announcements and hear FA cabin cabin announcements, too.It might be what you're looking for. With your current situation, FS2Crew cannot physically 'override' external hardware. So if your gear handle is up, and FS2Crew sends a 'gear down' signal, the gear is probably not going to go down because your hardware will probably over ride the FS2Crew signal.Cheers,

Does it come with a script on how to communicate with it properly?

I got it and am loving the Voice Commander edition so far! What checklist do I use as the pilot to make sure I am doing my side of the work? I have just been kinda looking around cleaning up the loose ends lol!
