August 14, 201114 yr Just got back from vacation last Friday. I bought the NGX while I was away and installed it when I got back. Spent the weekend setting things up, testing things and performing a few test flights. I also customized the KLM 800WL paint (by PMDG) to match the PH-BCB (for own use only). Tomorrow I will simulate the shuttle flight the real PH-BCB performed a few months back. Already completed a FMC preflight for this flight to test and make sure I'll make it... Wish me luck Henk de Vries
August 15, 201114 yr Sounds like a fun flight to replicate. Almost all my flights are replicas of the real life counterparts, with flightplans from Flightaware and Historical weather by Active Sky Advanced to simulate conditions at the real life time of flight. If you have Active Sky, be sure to use the historical weather for the day/time used in the actual delivery flight, I wonder if you will also get the strong tailwinds allowing a non stop route to EHAM. August 15, 201114 yr Thank you for posting this flightplan Frank. This will be fun to recreate. Robert Yunque
August 15, 201114 yr A word about flight aware: If you use it to get a plan by flight number from the four choices by opening the flight, and the aircraft has finished its ground business and departed again with the same flight number, the opening window will be the current flight number status. Fast turnaround airlines like Southwest Airlines (about twenty to thirty minutes) will have this feature :) . Always check the origin and destination lines to be sure that is the plan you want to look at. This is especially true if you use the [more] function to scroll the lists or the track flight function but select don't know the flight number and then enter the departure and destination airports.
August 15, 201114 yr Just completed the flight. Almost 10 hours flight time and I used the whole fuel capacity. After landing on RWY 18R at EHAM (TOPA2A Star, SUGO3B transition) I had 700 LBS in Main tank 1 and 700 LBS in Main tank 2 left. Close call, but the VNAV/LNAV predictions and paths were spot on (Thanks, Dr. Vaos)! After I vacated the runway i tried to taxi to Schiphol-East (M72 stand) but I had to park the PH-BCB halfway on a buffer because my engines were about to shut down. I just shut the engines down and refueled here again with a few 1000 pounds of fuel to deliver her at the KLM hanger. With the right conditions and a bit of luck, I successfully completed the flight. Let's put my virtual PH-BCB into service ASAP and hop around Europe Henk de Vries
August 15, 201114 yr Just wandering. Is Delivery flight from KBFI-EGSS possible on the 738WL? Also, has anyone who has been doing the trans-Atlantic deliveries been following ETOPS procedures? If so please shed some light. Gavin Price
August 15, 201114 yr Well, I didn't follow the ETOPS procedures because I do not have the knowledge to to use ETOPS (I did have a second battery installed). As you can read from the first post in this topic, the original plan for the PH-BCB delivery flight was to make a fuel stop at Glasgow (EGPF). Fuel stops at EGPF or BIKF are fairly normal for delivery flights from KLM of Transavia. The real PH-BCB flight was lucky to have good wind conditions, so they had enough fuel to get a reclearence to EHAM. Before I started the flight today, I checked the winds along the route and to my surprise the forecast was good. I decided to give it a go and to be save I programmed a fuel stop at BIKF or EGPF. I loaded her up with 100% fuel, emptied the cargo and PAX and used CI 8. I also didn't use the APU at all and performed a derated thrust take-off and followed the ECON Vnav profile. So, with the right conditions, 100% fuel and a emty aircraft it is doable... Henk de Vries
August 15, 201114 yr During the approach I saw Main tank 1 - 1000 LBS and Main tank 2 - 1000 LBS on the fuel gauges. After I vacated I saw I had Tank 1 - 700 LBS and Tank 2 - 700 LBS left. Couldn't afford a go around Henk de Vries
February 25, 201214 yr Hi does anyone know where I could find an old 737-300 UK delivery flight plan or even a plan from the US to the UK?thanksPaul Edited February 25, 201214 yr by 737-300
February 28, 201214 yr Lucky you weren't flying the real one... you would have landed with no reserve... there are laws against that... :)Great what we can do in FSX and get away with it! :DThanks to the original poster for the info, always fun to see stuff like this and how it can be translated to "our" side of the fence...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
February 29, 201214 yr Really interesting! I always wondered about the routing and weighting of the NGs headed from Seattle to Europe. I've heard that some carriers choose additional fuel bladders for delivery flights, but I'm not familiar with the intricacies of installing them.
