eeeeeeeeeer... let me think.... NO :( Just kiddin but i´m really interested in his career because i want to become a pilot so i want to check which opportunities i have....Angel.gif And i´m sure the NGX won´t be delayed because Robert posts something in the forums :(
if you are wondering whqt kind of opportunities there are in aviaition, visit the orums at www.jetcareers.com and/or www.airlinpilotcentral.com. you will find pilots that range from students to 747 pilots. You will also be able to get a good view and idea of all the other walks of life in aviation. If you decide to post and become a part of thier forums.....just dont sound like a dingbat and you will be fine. A lot of guys/gals over their love giving advice.

If that is an NG (not doubting it) but the fuel gauge says 2200 and change but the level shows about 60%. so with that logic full mains would be about 4000 in each main which we know snt right.JackColwill
Jack, are you messing with us again? :-)You can see that the NG in the picture uses metric units when you look closely. So ~4000kg in each wing tank would leave ~13000kg for the center tank to a maximum fuel capacity of 21000kg. Aren't those the correct figures?

How do they get that glow effect? Do the just take a flashless picture with a long exposure?

I'll let Rob answer in more detail, but he flew BAe JS4100s as captain for ACA/United. More recently, he was type rated in a Boeing 747-400. Currently he isn't flying for a living (by choice), but does enjoy flying his SNJ/T-6 Texan.Many members of the PMDG team have some flying experience. I have certificates as commercial SEL and MEL, and was a CFI SEL . I instructed quite a few to reach their dream of becoming a private pilot. I know Henning flies every opportunity he has. I'll let the rest of the team answer for themselves, but suffice it to say, we bring a lot of real-world aviation experience and expertise to our products.
I'll add my experience...I have real world flying experience however I do not hold a pilot's licence due to my hearing loss, but that does not prevent me from flying whenever the opportunity I have. My grandfather was a bush pilot and growing up, we went flying as often as we could in the back country of British Columbia. Regardless of what, he taught me how to fly a tail-dragger so for 15 years we flew together until his untimely death in a plane crash back in March of 2000. Since then, I have a few friends who hold PPLs and I would go up with them in C172s and Archers (I refuse to fly a C152, I'm too big, 5'11" and I dislike rubbing shoulders in turbulence). They would handle the radio and I would do the flying chores. Also have a few friends in the airline industry who are Captains and been fortunate enough to join them in full motion flight simulators on the 737-200, A320/330/340, 767, DC-10 and 777. I've lost track of how many hours I've accumulated in the sims, it was quite a lot but the last sim session was a few years ago in the 767-300. In that session I had no idea that the other fellow that was with us was the chief pilot of the 767 fleet (at the time) and they had me going through drills, Rejected Take Offs, 1 engine out on departure, partial hydraulic loss and low visibility landings. Apparently I impressed the chief so much that he told me who he was in the end and said, if you had your ATP licence, I would have hired you, I nearly crapped my pants. Seems that practicing a lot on the Level-D 767 made the difference. Anyway to say I have extensive experience in flying is probably not the right thing to say because I don't hold a valid pilot's licence, but I have the experience and the know how a plane should fly so I think its been a lifetime of experience and I have been fortunate to be able to get every opportunity to fly when I can. Now, I can get a restricted PPL, there is a flight school that is willing to support me and see to it that I succeed, problem is... money. It currently costs $11,000K for an entire school from start to finish including aircraft time, the TC examinations and what not. Still need to keep saving up so hopefully one day in my lifetime I'll finally get that PPL. My advice to those pursuing a pilots licence whether it be a PPL or an ATP, just do it, get every opportunity you can to go flying, if you have a friend that flies, pester him/her to take you along for the ride, offer to pay for half of the flying costs. Don't sit around and wait too long, JUST DO IT (no its not a Nike trademark :-P) I waited far too long but I fully intend on getting my PPL EVENTUALLY. The airline industry may be in the doldrums but if that is the path you want to take, just do it, even if you don't fully succeed, at least you have your PPL/ATP licence.Cheers,

Hi Jason. That's a great and inspirational story. I'm very sorry to hear about your grandfathers passing. Thats a very tragic way to die, but at least you didn't lose your love of aviation because of it.My father was a hearing specialist, and worked as the main specialist in a clinic. He worked with people of all types of hearing loss. When I was in my early teens, I worked with him a lot, either in the laboratory, or in the booth (a soundproof room with electronic testing equipment). Thus, I have delveloped an interest in ears and hearing. Do you mind saying what kind/type of hearing loss you have?

That is a NG. I don't think any other aircraft would look like that.

Hey Ethan,My hearing loss is classified as Profound Hearing Loss. I had this since I was born however with the help of hearing-aids I've been able to hear what the world sounds like, infact I am due for a new set of hearing aids and there's this bluetooth enabled hearing aids that's caught my fancy but $$$$ yikes. Although my first language is english, I'm also fluent in sign language and have no difficulty speaking with others :-)Anyway thats cool that there's somebody on the forum who has been involved in hearing testing and the likes! I've been in and out of the booth many times over the last 30 years, I even ask them to set up the M&M dispenser that dispenses an M&M whenever I passed a hearing test. Just a childhood thing of mine and takes the boredom out of the testing lol!

lol nice. Wish we would've had one for the tester too! :( Of course, as quiet as the booth is all you could hear would be breathing and crunching on M&M's. Might be harder to pass the test that way. :PCheck your PM.

How do they get that glow effect? Do the just take a flashless picture with a long exposure?
It's usually done with strobes (that is, flashes), combined with a long exposure. You can see from the shadow of the yoke on the control panel (captain's side) where one of the strobes has been placed. There's also a long exposure that lets the lights "burn in" and gives them more of a glow. In this case it's possible that the red glow on the throttle handles has been produced with a hidden strobe with a red gel on it to tint it, in addition to the glow from the red parking brake light.This is a style of photography that you often see in corporate annual reports. It's designed to take something pretty mundane - like a factory floor or a piece of industrial equipment - and make it look more glamorous. There's a lot of work by the photographer and his/her assistants to set up a shot like that - maybe a couple of hours, maybe as much as half a day, to set up the lights and test the exposure. Back in film days, you'd test with Polaroid to see how the lighting looked before you used your regular film - there were Polaroid backs that you could attach to your camera. Digital makes it all easier, of course.
