Why the 777 as next and not the 787 ?

Featured Replies

That, IMHO, is the paradox of intercontinental planes within FSX. You can virtually fly for a dozen of hours or more but the simulation rate can't overtake 8X or Otto will be blown in the wind.I would like to perform 12 real hours trips but even at 8X that's a too long haul to carry on and I get bored in between T/C and T/D.A 787 is the same but at least there are lot of screens and unknown knobs to play with to fill the time in between T/C and T/D dry.gif
I don't plan to fly for 18hours (Whew.gif) but that was just an example of what she is capable of. I plan on using the T7 mostly for routes between eastern US and Western Europe and maybe a flight or two to Asia or South America every so often. I don't like to speed up time when I fly.. but I will sometimes do school related work or other chores (where I can stay relatively close to my comp) at my desk while in cruises that last several hours. I just feel like speeding up time makes the whole trying-to-be-as-real-as-possible fall apart and makes the game feel like, well, a game, and not a proper simulation.

Best regards, happy flying,

Wallace

Same here. Longest flight i will do is EDDF-VHHHFrankfurt-Chep Lap KongThat takes around 11-12 hours. But the fact that i COULD do an 16-18 hours flight is awesome. And i love the external model of the 777-300ER because she is so loooooooooooooooooong

Really? The most exciting thing is a heavy, long range boeing? Lol, it's not like there are already umpteen of these on the market :( .

Guys,As stated by others, the 787 is not even finished with its flight certification program. The 777 has never been done to study-sim level in FS and it's in *very* wide use in the real world and is still in production by Boeing. The first 777 was delivered to United in 1995, it's 16 years old now - the ones in most other fleets are younger thought, as are the other variants like the 300/300ER, 200LR, the 200F etc. That's not "old" for a major commercial airplane program. The only aircraft Boeing even makes that are more advanced are the 787 and 747-8, neither of which are certified yet.

The Dreamliner will commence her regular duty on September 2011, Nippon airlines. Once her career will start its tech will be of public domain as well as many videos , pictures and pilot feedbacks on forums where pilots write, like this one of PMDG or Airliners just to say a few.I can understand someone may prefer the 777 over the 787 but I disagree about the possibility to release an hi-fi simulation within 4 years from now when 787s will be like nowdays city buses.-
Seriously, September 2011? 09/11? I couldn't think of worse timing to deliver the first plane...Maybe the scheduler is about to resign & thought that'd be a nice little joke...

So nothing involving aviation can happen in September now? That's ridiculous... If we stopped everything we do in September because of what some terrible people did 10 years ago then they'd have won if you ask me...

Guys, the 777 announced by PMDG will no doubt be an absolutly excellent simulation, and if history repeats, will probably by the the best sim on the market. But let us be honest for a few minutes, by the time the T7 is out, everyone here is going to be as good on the PMDG 737 as they are going to get. When they get into the T7, what will be left to learn? Yes it can carry more and go further, but other then that, in what way will it be different to fly then the 737? Yes I would like one and of course I would buy one, but I have no reason to get excited about one. Offer me something new and different though, like a Dash-8, Airbus or WoodPidgeon, something with lots for me to learn, and then see I excited I can get.

Paul Smith.

Pretty obvious why . . . 777 been around for years 787 yet to be flown commercially - how do you think the info would be available to develop?

the only heavily detailed long range boeing on the market to modern standards is really nothing, the nearest is the pmdg744x which i am currently flying this moment

Kinda surprised that you would say that Paul. 'What will be left to learn?' I think you should download a 777 FCOM and have a browse.regards

Sorry, I didn't express my self very well. I did not mean to suggest that the 777 will be easy to learn to fly properly. What I meant was that having put in the effort to learn to fly a late model 737 in all its glory, I would expect the transition to 777 to be very similar. Much easier then, for example, going from the 747 to 737.

One thing I dont understand is that you want ultra realism ala PMDG, but you want to ruin the immersion factor by using time accelleration. Why dont you just fly a 40 minute route if thats the max you can take before you get bored instead?
