Recent frequent crashing...

Featured Replies

Recently my copy of FSX has started crashing often. I was wondering if it was a result of having a 64 bit windows 7 or if it was something else? It happens if I switch between views, it also happens just at random times. I did have various things installed on two separate profiles did that have something to do with this? My rig: Windows 7 64 bit, I7 2600 3.2Ghz, ATI 5870, 8 GB of ram. If anyone has any ideas of what the cause could be I'd be much appreciated.

Here the same . . . !Reinstalled FSX and so far ( 1 week ) no more problems - also W7 64

Did you try the UIAutomation core fix. It should be listed in the tweaking section of the forum.Sean

It could be a number of possibilities. As for it being Windows 7, no, unlikely. You are now running a machine that has more memory available that XP. If you had these problems with XP then the first suggestion from most people would be upgrade to Win 7! Are the crashes CTD or a freeze? Are you presented with any error message? Have you made any tweaks to the cfg file? If not, then there may be some memory issue, especially when you change views and FSX is then redrawing a new view. Check out the cfg suggestion. If you have made any changes, can you post your cfg file. Cheers.

Try backing up the current config file and then deleting fsx.cfg, so that FSX can create a new one. If this fixes the problem then maybe something in your current config file is causing the crashes.

Windows 7, 64 bit, no problems. Why some people blame every problem on Win7.. or say that on 64 bit nothing works... none of that is true at all.Frequent crashing has nothing to do with Windows 7.

Tomaz, no one has said that it is a Win 7 problem. Dragonmount was asking a question I was wondering if it was a result of having a 64 bit windows 7 or if it was something else? Cheers :(

Yes, but he was wondering that as a result of some people blaming Win7 or 64 bit for every problem they have. Ok, so, it was something else.
I have not edited the .cfg file to my knowledge, and am doing the complete reinstall. If that doesn't work I'll try the other fix. Sometimes I wouldn't be able to do anything for a second, then I'd get the standard wait for program to work etc, ill wait for the program to work, and it will just CTD, the first time I do it it will restart, and the second toime it will just close the program. Also occasionally my wireless keyboard won't work, but I can do things with my mouse if this has something to do with it maybe?
You could look in your event viewer. It might tell you what is causing the problem.Yes, in general folks are quick to blame W7 64 bit for a lot of problems. Not saying anyone here did, but I see it all the time.Bob
