August 7, 201114 yr Chris, Since the begininng, Flight Simulator has always been software that requires alot of system resources, again its one of the reasons why Microsoft stopped working on the FSX brand, I believe that PMDG went out on a limb to provide us with a solid aircraft, and it looks like they have. I think we here can agree that the FSX coding is from the dark ages, not PMDG's fault if anything you need to look at the source of the programming "Microsoft", PMDG should get credit in pushing the limits in providing a aircraft that pushes FSX to its limits with somewhat fair expectations. I am happy with the performance that the NGX gets on my system, but I also realize that the only way it is going to get better is having a company create a new flight simulation program from scratch. Maybe the new Microsoft Flight will do this.... who knows? but intell then we have to enjoy what we have. Yes, you have your opinion but at this stage in the game, I think it's alittle late. I can see you are a seasoned flight simmer, I hope you write microsoft and push your dis-appointment and hopefully they will make sure MS FLight does not follow the same steps as the FSX brand has. We all know that FSX environment is not designed with preformance in mind, its a fatal flaw in FSX from the start. No third party add-on has control of this. If anything we all need to thank PMDG for not stopping all future programming and wait for MSFLIGHT to create new aircraft. Instead they took a chance went ahead the a new design within the FSX environment and provided us current users with a aircraft that is second to none. PMDG has done nothing but promote our hobby and provide good quality aircraft for FSX users, I think you are not looking at the big picture, I may be wrong but again this is just my opinion. I do not know one serious flight simmer that is happy with Microsoft Flight simulations but we all have learned to deal with its flaws. John. John Nelson Retired UPS
August 7, 201114 yr I went on NVidia's site. They have GTX 560 GDDR5 1GB cards for under $200 bucks listed on Amazon, Newegg... Plenty of good deals on cards out there. AJ Pongress
August 7, 201114 yr Ok Goran honestly your upgrade will be a very welcomed edition to your hobby for sure as for your system now, its going to be close you may have to turn down the clouds and traffic that being said you will need to tweak that sucker frame limiter, ******* tweak, you wont ba able to have the sliders maxed but should be ok depending on what quality you are happy with, I would not overclock that either may not help you much and not worth the efforts considering you will be buying a speedy computer but I do recommend win 7 64 for sure and no lies it will take some time to get that tweaked also its a tough game to get running properly fast machine or not, so if I were you purchase ngx and learn it while you are waiting to get the new rig, that sounds like a great idea so happy I did. There you go trip, good idea pal Rich Sennett

August 7, 201114 yr Well said John, good for you. Chris hold on pal let me check ok I want to go over your system specs too. Rich Sennett
August 7, 201114 yr Is a 560 GTX "good enough"? Though? Sounds like something that will need to be replaced in a year. Look at my sig, I run a GTX 465 and the NGX runs smooth on my system. The best you can possibly get from NVidia right now is a 590. 560 will last you a few years at least.Or if you can afford more then $200, get something higher.570's are around $320. AJ Pongress
August 7, 201114 yr GTX560 is a pretty good card. As far as FSX is concerned it should be all you need for a while. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64

August 8, 201114 yr Ah Chris sorry, I went from a gtx 285 extreme to a gtx580 so not to sure first hand what would be the difference between 560 and 580 other than the ram is greater which makes sense it will be better, here is a 580 for 400$ little better price http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item23130bbbfa it looks to me that your video card is the bottleneck. I have the Corsair F120 SSD with Win 7 64-bit and FSX on it, plus a velociraptor 300gb drive. How should I divy those up? Chris Virgilio
August 8, 201114 yr How is it that Nick from AoA is able to get beautifully streaming performance in the virtual cockpit, loaded up at complex addon airport, and even RECORDING to boot? Why ask the guys at NASA. Why not ask Nick. Or ask Mike_CFII_MEL. Thats what i,m going to do, because i'm not getting as good as i want right now, but i'm not running around barking at PMDG. August 8, 201114 yr "Corsair F120 SSD with Win 7 64-bit and FSX on it, plus a velociraptor 300gb drive. How should I divy those up?" Good question at first glance I would have if on the ssd drive and fsx loaded just on the c: not program files had to reinstall fsx due to that decision, ssd would be faster than the 300gig, is this rig only for flying if not and you have a lot of addons thats not a lot of space tough call maybe someone else could chime in, but why have a nice drive like that and not use it, I need one of thoes lol Rich Sennett
