Fixed CTD's and Freezes

Featured Replies

Well it would seem that I have fixed my issue with a complete reinstall of the PMDG 737 NGX. I also reinstalled .dotnet4.0 framework and Simconnect.msi which strangely enough was hidden away inside my REX folder. I have just done a flight from EGFF to Manchester. I decided that iw ould try ans stress the systems as mucha s possible so first of all took off from Cardiff offline, as I approached BCn I strated up EFB and created a flightplan EGFF/EGCC and connected EFB to the flightsim. No problem my plane was depicted in EFB enroute as it should havebeen. Next stress test whilst flying along was to start Fsinn and connect to VATSIM. This was a little more scary as I had not strated Fsinn since the full reinstall last night so doing so it loaded all the PMDG 737's in to it's aircraft repository, I then connected to VATSIM filed a flightplan all whilst flying.. No ctd or grey freeze screen and landed at manchester all tickety boo as they say. It's only one flight but it was trouble free, and the machine and the sim was put under considerable stress. Fingers crossed. Wycliffe p.s. I am wondering if there might have been a problem with the first installation, who knows.

What kind of reply is that hahahah, did you even read my post. Wycliffe

I'm sure he did. What he meant by that was: one successful flight doesn't prove anything. If you performed 10 successful flights without problems, then there might be reason for optimism. Unti then: keep you fingers crossed. Personally, I'v given up on finding a solution for my panel/control freezes for now. Haven't touched the NGX since Monday and can't be bothered to. I'm fed up for the time being. I've also cancelled my 737 Training with Angle of Attack. I have no use for a training for a broken aircraft.

I did remove the NGX and reinstalled RTM version. I have done fews flights and I haven't experienced CTD on final like I did when installed hotfix 3 .

I've done that before I was fed up with the continuing freezes. It didn't help, obviously.

GentsI uninstalled NGX like two weeks back or so and reinstalled with HF2 only not 3 and I have FSX.EXE file compatibility with Windows Vista and I did about 10-15 flights since then some were about 5 hours long and no freeze and no CTD and no flight exit problem any moreFYI, thanks

I have to say that before trying HF3 I don't recall any major problems with CTD, but now I think myself lucky if I am able to complete a flight. Nothing more frustrating than a CTD after a good 1 hour+ flight when you are decending towards your destination. Wish I had stuck with the original or one of the earlier HF's that seem to work, oh well. sad.png

Since so many have discovered clean flights without freez, after the d/l the installer once more, without adding any hotfix afterwards......so why don´t you guys try that alternative? That was my thought about it. cool.png / Leffe

Since I am having problems with autolands and CMD B dropping out, I am tempted to try a complete reinstall. Is it wise to do a complete uninstall first and then reinstall or is it safe to reinstall over the existing?ThanksJohn

I would uninstall it from Control Panel, then restart, then delete left over folders (backup of texture and cfg, because of livery)First then a reinstall, and a restart again. Now you can get your livery back by simply copy and past those entry in the cfg to your new cfg./ Leffe

Right I understand and I suspect your right. What I find worrying is this issue has arisen and PMDG remain resolutley quiet on the subject. I think I will do a reinstall again but leave off HF3, if I could find HF2 I would putthat on. Wycliffe

Many of us already did without success.

I don't have the original, I redownloaded the full installer that has hf3 already in it. Freeze city after landing now. Ix should have kept the original I guess. So glad I put faith in the hot fixes when in fact thats what likely broke it.

HI Ok this is the latest update on this saga. I have this afternoon uninstalled the NGX again and reinstalled butthis time I havent putthe hotfix on from 16 August. I have just conducted a flight and this time no crashes but also I could see traffic in EFB. This is an incredible development and it felt very much like the first couple of lfights I did before the 16 august update. I think I won't touch it now until a service pack comes out. Wycliffe
