Farewell "Queen Of The Skies" You Were Great.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. Its with a heavy heart that I write this, but I just took the "queen" out the hangar for a few circuits at EGKK as I was missing the old girl and after 3 weeks of flying the 737NGX, and I have to say you can really tell the difference. The PMDG 747-400 is beautifully modelled externally but the cockpit compared to the NGX shows what can now be achieved by developers. The NGX is really a superior piece of work when you look at the VC cockpit and the 2D,the lighting for the panels and the exterior lighting amazing, the cockpit sounds are fantastic.I find the hand flying alot smoother and easier too. Though the 747-400 to me is the most beautiful plane flying today.for flight Sim purposes the NGX is for me all the way now. Maybe one day the Queen will pull at the heart strings and i'll take her on another Long Haul trip from EGKK to some far corner of the earth, followed by of course a short hop transfer flight in the NGX. Sorry, but nothing comes close to the Queen! Nothing like hand flying an approach with her, no auto throtles and a little weather. Regards to all, Fabio van Roon

Hey NGX If PMDG want to give her a makeover I'm not complaining lol, I will be first to purchase the product. Tony

I would say that the system in the Queen is absolutly bug free, so the only think needed isan refreshment of the Flightdeck filled maybe with some more real life system. It´s still a marvelous aircraft after all./ Leffe

I agree, the real farewell will be when the V2 comes in

Everyone goes through this. When the Level-D came out it was my first plane for FS9 and what I learned to fly on VATSIM with. Then the Queen came out and blew everyone off the map. I flew thousands of hours in the Queen. Then the MD-11 came out and set the bar higher and I flew everywhere in it. Now the NGX is out and the bar has been set so high I think the competition has just been crushed. I Have flown the NGX all over the world since the day it came out. About 40+ Flights. I would not say I have mastered the 737-NGX as that would be delusional. However I can say I feel very comfortable with it now. However after all the flights in the NGX I am starting to miss the 747-400, MD-11 and even the Level-D. So don't put your other planes in Mouthballs just yet. Sooner or later you will get the itch to fly your other planes again simply to keep things fresh and new and not repetitive. Thats the best way to avoid Burn-out and I have suffered from it before twice and even took a break from flying for a year once. Course I am a little nuts and hold the record at American Airlines for most hours ever flown by a Pilot in one month which is 315 hrs. lol. Was trying to beat a record of 293. But will never try it again, that was just exhausting flying 10+ hrs a day for 30 days straight.

i agree with paul 100%. im flying the 737 NGX 6 hours a day (2 complete flights without time compression) but sometimes i feel missing flying the md11. i dont own the 747 coz i knew wasnt a native plane for fsx so really hope the team will make a V2 before make it for microsoft flight. and i also hope for a small patch for include the glass inside the md11 vc coz now the pc are much more powerful.

the PMDG737 A2A B-17 and the Katana Diamond are all I fly now. They are all in that "Out of this world" bracket and all very different aircraft.

Would be great to see a new Queen built on the NGX technology.

guys, there is a "bone yard" for aircraft where they store/retire aircraft after their life I believe in some hot dry location. Does anyone know where they retire 747's. I was thinking it would be better for my "Queen" to be with friends in her retirement years. I will fly her there and park her for last time until I can restore her to "modern standards".

Cheers, Scott Ball

That would be Mojave, Ca at the Mojave Air and Space Port (KMHV).
