Making Waypoints (Tutorial)

Featured Replies

Hey James!Go to Init - Pos get the most accurate (GPS) lat/long from present position and select it, it will go to scratchpad, go to Legs LSK1 L, it will create a Wpt for your present position, create then a second one by Radial and Distance (30nm) from that first created Wpt and select it as the first waypoint, and fly to it! Easy like candy! You can do that pretty fast when got used to!
Hi Rafael,I am not able to create a waypoint this way. When I enter the current GPS position to Legs LSK 1L, I get a waypoint named "WPT01". If I copy this waypoint to the scratch pad and append bearing and distance (e.g. "WPT01075/20"), I get an error message "not in data base".What I am doing wrong?Regards,Martin

Ok, I think that I have to insert "WPT01" into the FIX page and enter "radial" and "distance" with LSK 2L. This way I get a green circle and line for this point. In RL one could copy this new waypoint from the FIX page to the scratchpad and insert it on the LEGS page, but this does not work with the NGX?!Regards,Martin

You are doing it correctly Leffe, I'll double try it when I get home tomorrow and post the results. It would work if you were in the real airplane though, which by coincidence I used one wpt of this type this very morning while being vectored.Regards

Thx Rafael! If that is something missing, I sure hope they will implement it as soon as possible, sinceI only fly (off-line) with my Radar Contact. There are also some other things missing in FMC, when it comes to wp, so I hope theywill have a look of all of this/ Leffe

Interesting, as what you are doing in the second example (making a new waypoint relative to new waypoint WPT01) works for me, but the new waypoint is also called WPT01. On the map I get two waypoints with the same name at different positions. I've not yet tried creating waypoints from downselected positions. but will see if that works for me or not. This sim, wonderful though it is, appears to be rather sensitive to the system it's installed on. Possibly because its very complexity puts it on the edge working or not working in some cases.Kevin Hall

Say, Leffe, try activating the created waypoint first and THEN down-select it. FMC will not acknowledge the existence of WPT01 until it has first been activated.

Thx but I did that. Pics #4 (But you can´t see it, because I only have half of the pics for # 3 and 4)Tried again just to be sure, (just now) and the result was the same as before I´m afraid. Anyway thx a lot/ Leffe

You're right Leffe, it's NOT working in the NGX, just tried it here. But I can swear I've seen this working before, maybe before SP1 ... or I'm just too confused.Hope they fix this!Regards,
