September 3, 201114 yr I have seen this subject brought up many times and I though I would make a little Tutorial explaining how to make.............. 1. Place-Bearing/Distance waypoints. 2. Place-Bearing/Place-Bearing waypoints. 3. Along Track waypoints. I will use some Pics to make it much easier to understand. The route in the pics is KBFI to KLAX.The Legs Page will be used for making these waypoints. I hope peolple find these little tutorials useful. Fred.Hi Fred,Stupid question maybe, but why and when should I use this?In other words what is the need? Thanks for explaining.Eric Eric van Dorp
September 3, 201114 yr Author Hi Fred, Stupid question maybe, but why and when should I use this?In other words what is the need? Thanks for explaining. EricNot a stupid question at all ! The answer are mainly in the pics. There are ATC instructions in yellow text at the top of most pics. Because KATSO was not in the Nav Database it had to be created using a reference to another waypoint. As you can see that could be done 2 different ways.Place-bearing/distance or Place-bearing/place-bearing. September 3, 201114 yr Thank's Fred. I really appreciated it.Your way is much clearer as the dry stuff in the FCOMv2. Andreas

September 4, 201114 yr Hi Ray ! That is easy to do Ray. Go to the FIX page in the CDU.Type the name of the place where you want that green circleand in the line below it enter /10 for a 10 mile radius circle. don't forget the "slash"...../ before the number. /15 for 15 miles etc. Hello, Is it possible to put fix with current location reference? ATC tells me to descent to some altitude in 30 miles or less. It would be great to have some visual reference. Maybe "GPS Coordinates/30" ? Tnx alot for your contribution in educating us :) Danko Crnkovic Ryzen 9 9950X3D, 64Gb DDR5@6000Mhz cl30, PCIe 4 NVMe SSD, RTX4090 GPU
September 4, 201114 yr Thanks for this valuable information on making waypoints! For those less familiar with the FMC programming, I prepared a pdf with all the steps required for a complete flight (as per tutorial 1). In this file, each step is numbered and therefore you cannot miss any! Regards Edmundo Azevedo
