Both flight directors do not have to be on for A/P engagement.
Really? Maybe I am confusing VNAV and LNAV.

Trim the aircraft properly and let go of the yoke. That's all you need to do basically. Select the modes you want and hit one of the command buttons.

Did you FULLY Program the FMC before leaving the gate? Without a Flight Plan Programmed into the FMC and all the other variables entered the Auto Pilot is not going to work. The plane will function correctly when you learn how to set it up correctly. Read the manuals and all will be explained.

The autopilot does not need a flight plan for it to work !!

Sure he can take off from the runway level off and engage the Autopilot. Only thing that is going to get him is the ability to move up and down left and right. But he obviously won't be going anywhere far. If he had took the time to read the manuals in the first place he would know why he could not get the autopilot engaged. I guess mine and your versions of what constitutes Autopilot Functionality are different. Regardless what anyone tells you the fact is this aircraft is simulating a real world 737-800. You been begging for a real as it gets Aircraft Simulation for years. Now that it is finally here some people want to hop in it and treat it like a Default 737. They don't want to read any manuals and if the aircraft does not work to their expectations they show up in the forum saying the plane is buggy and crap because it is not performing to their expectations. Reading the manuals will make things a whole lot easier!

so what happens when the fmc fails for some reason the aircraft going to fall out of the sky, think they revert back to the old days. The auto pilot will still work with out any programing, you need to work harder to get where you want to

That is true Pete, but it is not as easy as you make it sound. lol. It does require some basic knowledge of how the aircraft works to do that. I don't think the OP has that knowledge as he could not even get the autopilot to work but then comes in here trashing the plane and saying its full of bugs and the worst aircraft ever. So my gripe was that he outta at least spend a little time reading up on how the plane works before trashing it.

Still it would be interesting to know how many pilots in here could actually hand fly the NGX to an alternate after suffering a complete FMC Failure and using Conventional Navigation.

Ok, i write here to apologize. I write on forum after many hours to fight with the addon problem of display and anormal comportment of autopilot which make me crazy. Today, i'm very surprised : i launch it : all works perfectly ??????!!!!! Well, all my excuse to devellopers and forum membres, yesterday, when i have all the problem of comportement of the aircraft, i think to a nightmare, all buged. Very strange, i don't change anything it seems, but now all work properly i try all mode : all work even in LNAV VNAV Strange thinks, perhaps it not a problem of the addon but on my computer ? Never see that before. But when i make a mistake i want to apologize : it's a great work, all my excuse P.

Sorry Peirrot727 but I'm sceptical on your installation of your NGX if you know what I mean. Sign your full name and you'll probably get some more positive responses. If you are not comfortable signing your full name for support, your issues are out of the realm of this support forum. File a support ticket at support.precisionmanuals.com - You will require registration to receive support through that system.

Well, i write some word here because you are probably right, i'm perhaps a bit hard with this add-on. On my PC, with FSX installed and i only have 2 aircraft : ATR of Flight One and NGX. I'm sure that i choose the normal situation to put on the autopilot : i do the same think on a full motion simulator of a 737-800 at Orly in France and it works on it. 1rst : when you put the autopilot on with no mode, he must keep the attitude of plane, it seems that not work on this add on.2nd : when the system is written in green on PFD, the system is active, it can be written in green in pfd if the autopilot is'nt connected : in this add on, it is3 : The overhead panel, is not working properly : unable to read any information on it, i can use switch but well, with no information of what it is.4 : after had passed 500ft, with a correctly trim aircraft, it's impossible to use it. The best thinks that i can do is to make a short video of a fast departure with this add on, and the same thinks with the real full motion 737, i put it on you tube and post the link here
There is definitely something wrong with your setup because other people and I don't experience any of these problems you are mentioning. As for number 2, if you mean the fma modes shouldn't go green with autopilot off, they do in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?=1&v=KCAW1sfF1Q8Have a look starting at the 4 minute mark.

Mr "Pierrot727" , can I ask you a simple question? are you sure you are using pmgd's NGX? ps i don't have NGX yet, just though this post was quite interesting tongue.png :) sounds more like a scam to me LOL Ivan Majetic

FMA indicates active (green) and armed (white) modes but an active mode can be also for FD only, it doesn't need the AP engaged on command.About AP engagement, the real one willdisengage if forces on the control wheel are out of engagement limits. This is probably why the PMDG will not let you engage the AP if joy is not centered (or flight controls not centered in that configuration center that can differ (machtrim, elevator feeel, trims) to the joystick center. If simulated correctly a force feedback joy is more precise, when no forces are given by the joy you have found the neutral of that moment, in this moment you can engage AP.Bug? Maybe a flight simulator or joystick limit.About the modes that activates after lift off:After using TOGA for take off, the aircraft lift off, the TOGA function commands the FD for wing level (maximum bank 8° below 400ft AGL) and pitch for TOGA.After 400ft AGL you can engage AP.If AP is selected with no other buttons selected, the aircraft activates HDG SEL and LVL CHG.This is a general option, program pins inside the plane can change some features like wing level versus hdg select. Last, if you push a pitch mode (after 400AGL) the roll mode automatically change to the HDG SEL, this in FD mode if AP is not already switched on.Overhead panel, I don't know your hardware setting, I don't know if you resized textures, but the overhead panel, like the others has the better resolution you can find on a flight sim airplane. Post a screenshot or video of your sim. Also check differencies with other users screenshots.

Wouldn't bother me at all. Airplanes fly due to Bernoulli, not Marconi. :)But I've seen none of the issues the OP is complaining about. His problems are due to cockpit error, not the cockpit itself.. :/M Keith
