23SEP11 Update: SP1, Hotfixes and the 6700

Featured Replies

Captains- We are very (very) close to having a completed SP1 for the PMDG 737NGX, but it is not going to release tonight as originally hoped. (Reminder: The 23SEP projected date had a "subject to change" disclaimer on it!) The SP1 is a bit of a moving target because we want to make certain that it and the PMDG 737NGX 6700 are fully in sync with one another in order to simplify everyone's lives. The current plan is to release the SP1 and then follow it shortly there-after with the 6700 expansion. As we started wrapping up the SP1, we decided to add in a few more tweaks and fixes that simply require more testing in order to ensure that they are where we want them at the time you install... One of the features that we are working that isn't yet complete is an applet that will allow users to tune up-or-down the visual detail level with the click of a button. We feel that this will give you greater flexibility to run the simulation the way that best matches your hardware- and it prevents us from having to pigeon-hole everyone into one level of visual detail. (Ryan has been pushing hard to make this happen for you guys- so please help me in blaming him for the extra work. Whistle.gif ) As of right now, I think we are probably looking at Friday, 01OCT for the SP1 release with the 6700 concurrent or shortly afterward. (AS ALWAYS: SUBJECT TO CHANGE) One suggestion that we have seen you guys make over and over is for PMDG to jump on the software industry trend of offering you all live fixes "as we make them" so that those who want the latest and greatest can always have it. (I know with some of the software I use in my day-to-day life, I enjoy getting the interim fixes without having to wait for the service packs- so this request has caught our eye. Once again we can blame....erm....credit.... Ryan for bringing this concept to the teams attention and then pushing back on my initial resistance in order to get you guys something you'll like...) This being the case we are going to make available a new HotFix for you during the day, Saturday. This hotfix will update you with a significant portion of the fixes and enhancements that are coming with the service pack. This hotfix focuses primarily on the things that are code-based and as such your dlls will get updated to the most current versions as of Wednesday 21SEP. We think that these updates *should* kill any freezing problems that folks might still be having- which is another good reason to roll them out to you right away even if the SP1 will be held off a bit... The hotfix is around 44MB in size... The SP1 will be significantly larger because it will include some artwork changes, a visual detail configuration applet, new VC models, etc... I know a few of you were really hoping to have the SP1 and the 6700 this weekend, but you'll get them shortly, I promise! We just want to make sure that we have them the way we want them before release! Okay- I'll be back with you on Saturday with download information for the hotfix! (Reminder: I'm in US PDT so I'm talking about MY Saturday!)
Correct me if I am wrong but I have not seen pricing details on the 600/700. Has that info been released yet and if not, can we get it?

Yes, that info's been given the day the base pack came out. Or actually before that, at least when general pricing info was given, and that was about the base pack as well as the upcoming expansion pack. Now if that thread only were around still. Whistle.gif Seriously, Big%20Grin.gif I can't remember the exact number but I guess it was around the 25ish range. sig.gif

you are very close Etienne, $24.99 is what was listed when the Base pack was released. Thanks again for the Sunwing livery... still enjoying that.

2D throttle panel - probably not, sorry. It's a significant amount of extra work to make animated throttles in 2D and we think the time is better spent on other things.
What about fuel cut off valves and the trim position we were asking for? We don't really bother about the throttles, but the rest of quadrant we're missing badly. Please don't give up on Quadrant!

Thanks! They'll be out when they're out!

Once the SDK comes out, it should help make it quite possible for anyone interested to make a working 2D Throttle Quadrant, with the necessaey Fuel Cutoff Valves, If the demand is there, someone will make it.

Well, I was charged full dolars and I DO demand to have full 2d panel (except the throttle LEVERS and trim WHEEL). It's really simple.

Brent, don't throw wood on the fire. You got me perfectly.I stated that I paid full dolars on a product that DIDN'T have the asterisk after the "2D", and because of that, I demand PMDG to do that, not third party. I don't see how I can be more clear to you than this, Context people. Context!

They don't owe you anything other than what is stated on the info page and i don't see any thing about 2d throttles.

If it is not IFR conditions it is not fun.

WOW.... Do you realize this is a 60 dollar product.. BTW in my opinion as well as many others it's the best FS plane you can get. your acting like you have a lot of money invested into this. If your limited to 2d panel by outdated hardware I strongly suggest upgrading.. flying this plane using the VC with ezdok and track IR is the way to go.

I stated this before but I'll do it again: Yes, I'm limited to hardware. Guess what, Brazil pays $ 1.49 for the minimum wage. U.S. pays about $ 7.00!"I'm sorry" for having no money, sir... "I'm sorry" if I should work as a slave to pay 2x the price (my currency is Brazilian Real, just check the rate) and still want to have a complete product that is incomplete. They will NOT do me a refund. I'm glad you have plenty of money to waste, maybe you should buy TrackIR, EZDOK and a brand new computer and ship it to me in Brazil. Just let me know when it'll arrive in my door, alright!? wink.png P.S.: I just read again your statement, and changed my mind. Could you please deposit $ 60 in my account? Take the pen... actually, they do. My dolars in their pockets agree as well.

This won't be a moment too soon for me. Just hit my latest crash, and it's one that I personally haven't seen before:

Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Fault Module Name: PMDG_737NGX_3.DLL Fault Module Version: 1.0.0.1 Fault Module Timestamp: 4d580618 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000087d7 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033Additional information about the problem: LCID: 1033

So far, I'm only getting to complete about 50% of my flights. The remainder all die somewhere between TOD and final approach, mostly with the "PFD/ND lockup, non-responsive controls, and plane executes a hard, uncommanded turn" problem, or now with this new crash. It seems like nothing beyond about 90 minutes will complete successfully. As you'll see from the specs below, the spec of my PC should not be a problem; nor are my settings excessive (FSX runs almost rock-solid at my externally limited 30fps). Here's hoping this all gets fixed tomorrow! ;-)
