October 3, 201114 yr Well I thought I had escaped this when I bought a GA board but it seems when I turn my PC on, It boots, then turns off, then boots again been successful second time round. It is not cold here in Melbourne, probably about 20C, any ideas? Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
October 3, 201114 yr I was thinking of posting a topic like this too. It only happens for me on Boots not restarts. I have the Asus P8P67 Pro board. Also it doesn't happen everytime
October 3, 201114 yr Author Never mind people, it seems fixed. I just left it off for a while and drained the existing power by holding the power button down. Taylor, you have got an ASUS board, I think they are renowned. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

October 3, 201114 yr Author I doubt it will, if it does, I WILL post back. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
October 3, 201114 yr I slowly think both GB and ASUS have this problem. Why: I noticed on mine this happening, sometimes. Now it hasn't been happening for a while, but I'm sure it'll start again at some point. And it's probably same with Gigabyte.
October 3, 201114 yr I read somewhere while trying to research a fix for this issue that it's an intel design spec problem, no idea what that means but it probably got something to do with the quick bodge fix they had to make after the huge initial recall process they went through for this chipset. Cheers, Andy.
October 3, 201114 yr Author Well if we got any MSI, Intel board owners, it'd be interesting to know if they are having similar issues. I think ASRock boards get this to dont they? October 4, 201114 yr I chose an MSI board and I could not be happier. It was affordable and so far it's a step above what I had with my Asus Z68. Too many issues to discuss. I just hope that I can say the same thing 6 months from now. Right now, I'm very satisfied. MSFS
October 4, 201114 yr Some people are attributing this to the Marvel controller on the GB boards. Disabling it has fixed the double boots for a few. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

October 6, 201114 yr Author OK, some of you win. I got a double boot this morning when I turned it on. Quite early cos my mum wanted to look at e-mails. It hasn't been used for a couple of days either. I got a few good boots out of it but could this have anything to do with the BIOS update I did. When I was re-overclocking, maybe I forgot a setting. Also it seems if I hold the power button down for a few seconds then give it a few clicks before give it power from the wall, it prevents the double post. October 7, 201114 yr Author Well I turned it on later today and all seemed normal. Well almost. I turned it on and the fans are kind of just spinning not full blast, the post LED's are on and it seems to be going through its little pre BIOS checks. But, the red LED on the front fan of the HAF seemed to just turn off for a millisecond but it was able to make its final leap to where the fans all turn on and the noise starts and the BIOS screen shows up. It seems if it can get to the stage of the BIOS screen (getting there usually takes5 or so seconds) its fine, if it doesn't, it just restarts and is fine. No issues in windows and it has never triple booted. Any ideas? Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
October 7, 201114 yr Except wait for the next gen chipsets and processors and then still wait to see if they turn out good? No... sorry.
