November 30, 201114 yr No changes for me unfortunately... I'm still getting colorful blocks on the runway, and AI planes and my own plane.Ryan,Do you have the volumetric fog (I think that is the name of it) enabled? If so, disable and try. I had many issues with this enabled.Bob Officially retired

November 30, 201114 yr They will get everything sorted out, and Ben is working his butt off...Hang in there, this is not unlike any other version releases! November 30, 201114 yr Ben is working his butt off...I've been genuinely impressed with the speed at which they're pushing updates out.
November 30, 201114 yr It certainly appears that the kind folks trying out the demo, and providing the feedback is helping. I think that under these circumstances that the developers, with the approval of Austin or whomever is flying the plane right now, would see the necessity to increase the time limit on the demo. To me, it just seems like the right thing to do. It's logical and it simply shows that they understand the value many are providing.Bob Officially retired
November 30, 201114 yr The disks are being shipped shortly! Shipped on: December 3, 2011 Shipped via: USPS First Class I don't think the demo time limit will change! Austin strikes me as someone who can be very stubborn and difficult to persuade.

Austin's quite stubborn though, hoping lot of users complaining will make him change his mind. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

As it is I just have enough time to do one circuit to a full stop. However, it would be nice to drop that darn popup, sort of make it a two part demo: 1st 10 minutes you can use your joystick, next ten you cannot and after say 30 minutes the popup comes up, and you can always use the autopilot button s.
December 1, 201114 yr I have error "if I get less than 2048 pix then the backtex will be hosed" after x updated. Any one had this ??Thanksdmb

Do you think that the input from the community is valuable? I do. Do you think the developers and the owner believe that this demo and the feedback that it provides adds value to the program as a whole? I do. So, why do you think one would continue to hold on to the measly 10 minute limit? What is the purpose of the limit? What are they afraid of? I am sure this topic came up with previous versions also. It just rubs me the wrong way. Whats the harm in 30 minutes? Maybe you could complete a couple of traffic pattern runs without paying for it. I just don't get it.Bob Officially retired
December 1, 201114 yr Many of us were convinced after only ten minutes. The whole simulator costs 80 bucks! I have a lot invested in FSX, but this is no more expensive than a good add-on. The decision was easy to make.
December 1, 201114 yr Many of us were convinced after only ten minutes. The whole simulator costs 80 bucks! I have a lot invested in FSX, but this is no more expensive than a good add-on. The decision was easy to make. I guess many of you are already xplane users and I would expect you to upgrade just like I would. I am new and it is a real pita while I try to figure out if I can get it to my liking without spending $80 ahead of time. I have money invested in FSX as well, which is why it has to be worth it to see if I should shift where I spend my money to xplane. Other demos I have tried let you have unlimited time in a small area, or a few days unlimited until it turns off, or turns on a timer like the 10 minute one. One thing I have seen is that you have to reply on user content because things are so sparse and default aircraft are not so good. With all of this mucking about to try and make it look something like you would eventually settle on the 10 mins is just ridiculous impediment to 'demo' xplane'. So, I can certainly empathise with people new to xplane trying to give this a go. I bet Austin is his own worst enemy if the stuff I hear about him is true, if he doesn't care so much about his customers as he does about what he wants to do it could be a longer time before lots of third parties jump on like they have FSX. Those third parties need happy customers of the sim to keep going.
