Y*A*W*NDo you EVER have anything substantive to say or do you just like personal attacks and character assasinations ?

Well, you act like a character. You're the one who pokes his nose in this forum and threads, only to derail them. You expect confrontation, that's why you're here.

Have a question here :If a developer has sold his/her aircraft creation for v9 and limits his compatibility claim thru the v9.xx run, and Laminar claims compatibility of v9 with v10 addons, whether aircraft, scenery, plugins or miscellaneous items, accessories or tools and the developers aircraft does not work or work as well as in v10 as it did in v9, who should be held responsible, the aircraft developer or Laminar ?
In your example, Laminar. If a developer says "thru the v9.xx run" then that's what it means. If the longevity of it is saved by Laminar's decision to continue supporting v9 in v10 (which is what they're working to achieve) then that effort will ultimately be a bonus. As has been said time and time again, they are working to do it, and having seen their progress and beta builds sent behind the scenes first hand prior to public releases, I have full confidence they'll have all of this sorted out quick. It's only been out for a few weeks and already we've seen three builds as a matter of great customer service (subjective, I know).

@m_av,Do you even OWN a copy of XPX?

THERE APPEARS TO BE VERY GOOD JUSTIFICATION FOR IT, NO MATTER HOW SUBJECTIVE IT MAY BE TO OTHERS ! AND YOU HAD BETTER LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS.
This really makes me laugh. LOL.gif

To them and perhaps you it may be a bonus. I see it as promise to deliver and deliver as promised. What do you want - a medal for delivering what you promised to deliver ?

Your "full confidence" means ZILCH to me !If they did the testing before going public, they wouldn't have had to deliver this "great customer service". Again, what do you want, a medal for what they should have done in the first place and avoided putting the customers thru their beta process ?

Have the decency to avoid responding to posts that are NOT addressed to you. I think you have enough on your plate as it is, don't you ? Try spending half the time you spend on these forums on providing better customer service and/or attending to your buisness venture. While you are at it, perhaps an additional clarification from you might be helpful to the readers here. When you give your opinion, no matter how educated it might be, are you officially speaking for Laminar ?
...and when someone comes on-states they tried the demo, flew in their hometown of Las Vegas and were very disapointed-I think it would be much better to say-yes cities in xplane right now are barren and not appealing-hopefully this will be fixed somehow in the future. Instead we get "plausable world", and accusations that the person is biased or an fsx ######.Again-not helpful to xplane at all in my opinion.
It really depends how the criticism is presented. There's a difference between:"The cities in X-Plane 10 do not appear to accurately portray their real-world counterpart. What is Laminar's official stance on this?"and"The cities in X-Plane 10 suck! I just flew around Jackalope, Wyoming, and it looks NOTHING like my hometown! Laminar should be ashamed of themselves! I'm definitely sticking with FSX and my $827 worth of after-market add-ons!"Guess which one is most likely to be called an FSX ######?

@Geofa,I made my statement on what you last said about, "but I have to say-my limits were reached tonight."Goran & Cameron have both addressed these issues you where having, but you went on to say they had a bad attitude. These are things you should discuss with THEM.

Again-not helpful to xplane at all in my opinion.
Speaking of bad attitude look at M_av, he's very optimistic about X-Plane.

Nope. Last I knew I didn't promise you anything.

And your background in software programming is?Still waiting for the day for Apple, Microsoft, or any software company to get it right the second things are released. Oh, well.

Exercising the same practice would make the world a far greater place if you heeded your own advice!

Did I had some form of a full plate today? My, do you ever jump to conclusions!

X-plane v10 today is a somewhat buggy/beta product.X-plane v10 today grossly lacks what one would expect in a global FS. In some ways, it delivers less than what it did in v9.All current owners and demo downloaders of X-plane v10 today are being used as beta testers, guinea pigs essentially. Some thing that Laminar could avoid and do differently. They choose not to.X-plane v10 today claims compatibillty with ALL ADDONS from v9, which many of us, including Laminar, know to be not true. This is not attitude, let alone bad attitude. These are facts - TODAY !I chose to try out X-plane over a decade ago, had and still have tremendous hope and still do see it's potential - but like the horizon, it is always seems a good distance away.A potential as yet unfulfilled ....... but stay tuned, there's hope !

Gents, what's all the fuss about aircraft compatibility ? I see some big misunderstanding here. And some characters incompatibilities but that's another problem.Let's try some chronology:1) Laminar develops XP10 with aircraft compatibility in mind. However there are some deep changes in the graphic engine, some new possibilities added (lighting). Some old technologies are deprecated, this is a necessary evil for every piece of software in the world. Essentially, some v7 and v8 leftover.1a) Laminar does not try every single freeware and payware file to guarantee compatibility before release. This is not humanly possible, by any staff in the world. As a workable basis for compatibility, they consider aircrafts last saved in Planemaker v 9.72) Laminar releases XP10. Like every mainstream simulator I've been following, the release seems rushed (late and rushed). Some shortcomings (cities, framerate. etc...) become evident and some people panic. Laminar says they will fix things in due time, people who are in X-plane "culture" are confident, some people show interest but don't understand X-plane development model. People fight.3) Bug reports start flowing. Bugs which concern aircraft compatibility are apparently considered high priority.3a) Laminar asks aircraft makers to wait that bugs are fixed inside X-plane 10 before releasing v10 versions of aircrafts. First things first: Laminar do their homework, and then aircraft can be adapted with relative serenity. We are here. Only one week after the lucky ones received the full version ( I don't have mine yet ;) ).Ben, Austin, and maybe everyone at Laminar works like crazy.Anything more is not possible. Not by human beeings.4) Eventually many bugs are fixed and aircraft developers start fixing things on their side if needed. Most of the time, a simple save in Planemaker is enough. Some release v10 versions of their aircraft to take advantage of the new technologies. If something is unclear or wrong in this chronology attempt, please tell me. IMHO, any other procedure concerning aircraft would have been foolish. Now if you want my opinion, people mix too many things here. Expectations on third party commercial support, past anymosities, personal problems, trolling for fun (or not : it's hard to be a troll). Now if you really want my opinion: you are all flight simulators junkies, and perform very badly in society when you can't sniff enough of your sh*t ! LOL.gifCheers !

Look at it this way: Laminar could have bluntly stated that earlier add-ons would not be compatible with XP10.

Look at it this way: Laminar could have bluntly stated that earlier add-ons would not be compatible with XP10.
BUT, THEY DIDN'T ! It is in their interest to maintain compatibility. I can remember days when compatibility was an issue between updates, let alone versions ! And Laminar's attitude then left a lot to be desired.Believe me, It is good that they did. It hopefully forces them to live up to the promise they made, while allowing the users/developers to enjoy and benefit from the compatibility. Users/developers don't have to keep reinventing the wheel over and over again. They can keep building and improving, knowing that compatibility will be maintained.Historically speaking, this is a big positive change coming from Laminar. It is probably somewhat costly to them in the short run but definitely beneficial to the users/developers in the long run and ULTIMATELY, DIRECTLY BENEFICIAL TO LAMINAR.I welcome that whole heartedly !
