I don't understand the seemingly "holier than thou" mentality that Flight will not be "free" for the basic game, and you pay, either as you go and/or you can pay for more features like more planes or more areas.This is my main argument for this type of approach, which I believe MS will use for Flight: It brings more money in over time and because flight sims, for the most part, is a niche game. As hard as it might be for me and for some people here to accept, this is true. Just like my other favorite type of game, hunting sims, which is another example of a niche game.Take a look at the new hunting game (again, a niche game) called "TheHunter". It's a sim, but it's online-based, you get the basic game (gun, two areas to hunt, and one type of deer to hunt). If you want more areas, more types of guns, If you want to hunt different types of deers, or coyotes, or elk, great, pay up. You want to hunt more than the basic free game? No problem, just buy a 3 month or a one year subscription rate. You want that fancy high power rifle? Great, pay a few bucks for it. What? You want a tent? Sure, just purchase it. Why pay through the nose? If piracy is reduced, and especially if many more folks join the Flight community (or just stop dropping out due to FSX's limitations!) add-ons could be a lot cheaper!When mainframes were only for the few, operating systems would rent for thens of thousands of dollars a month. Now that PCs are for the masses, way more powerful operating systems go for tens of dollars, or even $free.Heck, if you agreed to adverstising banners placed here and there in your sim-scape and aircraft (via The Truman Show-style surreptitious pruct placements via feeds from Bing, Google and Facebook), maybe you could even sim for free! A new meaning to in-Flight advertising...Cheers,- jahman.
