After reading this: http://forum.avsim.n...ghts-on-flight/ (Must read)I think any hope I had left for Microsoft Flight has just gone completelty.
That's a great post indeed. Makes perfect sense. By the sounds of it, in a way MS did want to develop the sim we all wanted as long as they had a piece of the aftermarket, unfortunately their terms were too rigid and they adopted a 'my way or the highway' attitude. Pity, if they had of been a little more open minded and flexible Flight could have been successful and profitable for everyone involved.

I too agree with superpilotv2, the regions would be nice, if 1) they weren't too expensive (meaning no more than say, 20 or 30 bucks for a decent airspace) and 2) If the regions covered areas that we normally fly in, such as the U.S., Europe, etc.

Absolutely false. All anyone did was go on the past record of the franchise which spans more than 25 years. No one could have imagined that they would have radically gutted the title and then totally reversed themselves in their attitude to the addon community and the FS community in general. If today you were driving on the same road that you have for 25 years but today you fall into the ocean because last night they removed the bridge without telling you would that be your fault? What about if they sent out a letter to you a few weeks before to say they were building a beautiful smooth new road for you to enjoy....would you not assume that includes the ability to drive the entire length of the road without falling into the ocean?
======================================================Mike, great analogy! YOU...are spot on. High Five.

Hi,No SDK speaks "VOLUMES" in regards to the future of Flight, I find it hard to believe that there are some individuals that are unable to grasp the reality of what this actually means.
+1I'm outta here. Better things to do. I never really liked FSX as it was - even then I could see the arcade/game direction it was taking when 2 years of dev since FS2004 resulted in a buggy, graphics-obsessed simulator that, in terms of the basic fundamentals of flight simulation, was no different to FS2004. Flight just confirms those thoughts. The fact that AMD are looking at pulling out of producing x86/x64 processors and moving into ARM-style processors says that the days of PC gaming are over. They have their recently acquired graphics card company, but even they see the end of the road of desktop computers.XBox, and XBox style games are where it is going. Flight is just joining the band-wagon. $$$ are what count, not how good the product is. 2001 saw the end of intellectual games, before they became frag-fests for the stupid. 2011 marks the end of anything serious in the world of electronic entertainment. Sure, we still have PMDG etc.. but with game dev costing millions to get started, even they won't be around forever as costs rise, and demand slowly falls. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.I can only hope DCS continue to develop their simulators. If you haven't already, check them out. MSFS is a toy by comparison. Development is funded by the requirements of the US DoD, and we are fortunate to benefit from that.Best regards,Robin.

I disagree with this analogy. MS has every right to do as they like with a product that they own. I don't like it either but they did not build a road which just disappeared one day.A better analogy would be that you have been buying Pontiacs for many years and now that you need a new car, you can't buy a new and improved version of your favorite brand. Still, GM had every right to stop making them.My issue is with the way MS treated the FS community and the 3PDs. All carefully done to lead us and them on. Disgraceful, really.

I see two possibilities here......1. Microsoft Flight will be a success, which will result in more arcade style flight games, and nothing for the serious flight simulation enthusiast.2. Microsoft Flight will be a failure, and that will be the end of any flight games or sims from Microsoft. In other words, I think that anyone who thinks that Microsoft might develop a true FS11 from a successful MS Flight (or as a desperation tactic if MS Flight is a failure) is totally kidding themselves. In short, FSX is the future of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and it is the only future.

I agree, for the moment and next few years. However, I hope that the people, who stand to lose their businesses from not having a replacement for a 2006 game, will come up with something better that will be ready for 3+GB video cards and systems with 12+GB RAM.

One thing I have learned from MS......is to NOT trust MS's promises. So if Flight does not prove to accomodate the hardcore simmer, I will switch to Xplane10, and drop MS as a wet towel and never give it a second thought.

This part is not true for all I know Robin. No one from AMD ever said that, just that they were exploring new options for the future and not try to directly compete with Intel. Softpedia made everyone believe what you're saying.Desktop gaming is going strong, and desktop computers are here to stay.

No, there is a third option, but not one that I think all that likely. They could quite easily release modular extensions to Flight that effectively bolt-on some or even all of what was gutted for this first release...
