Hey guys,a lot has been written about Flight in the past 2 days. It might be talked to death and you´ll say: "Not another thread about one´s oppinion." but I´ll try to do something else.Lots of guys in here have written things like they´ll never try Flight cause of this regions thing. I mysefle like this idea with the regions. I never fly in southeast Asis or Africa but I´ve bought it with FSX. Don´t get my wrong, it´s allways nice to have this regions but I´ll likely never fly there. With this splittin into wariouse regions, I can save some mones and just buy the regions I want to fly.Secondly, who thought, Flight will be FSXI, lived in a dreamworld. It has been stated clear enough from the beginning, that Flight will be for an wider audience anrd therefore be a bit diffrent from FSX. I´m pretty on the same boat like one guys her on Avsim (I don´t recall his name.) but he said, he thinks Flight will be for the ones who were particularly interested in Floght siomming but never did it that much. It could be a lead-in into Fs world. The ones who had never anything to do with flight simming on PC but were intersted in avation will maybe hooked on FS and if they wan´t to have more features an/or an more accurate flight model and more planes, they can change to FSX/P3D or X-Plane.I think in this debate about Flight is meassured with different meassure. It´s the same as you can´t compare an wagon with an car. Well, both have four wheels and you can sit in and travel from point to point. But a car has apparently more features like an radio, a better damping and so on. I hope you got my point. Flight is a bit better looking version based on the FSX core code as a appetizer for Flight simming. Now I have to say something about some rather negative statements here on Avsim:I don´t find it all right when some guys say, cause of the way Flight will be distributed, it´s crap and they´ll never try it. Maybe it´s quite nice and they like it but they´ll never know. These guys are just ignorant and unwilling to adapt new things. And on what do they base their statements? On some small MS statements and early beta reviews. They haven´t tried it themselfes but yell that it´s bs and they´ll never try it. How can they judge about a thing they haven´t used? Well, I can certainly understand that some guys out there are a bit disappointed that Flight isn´t going to be FSXI (Or will it, we don´t know!) but does it justify the statement that FSX is now, with some some information about Flight unveiled, is crap and it was crap from the beginning?! Also the saying of some that Flight is crap and therefore FSX is also crap, not to say last that MS iteslfe is crap. Lots of guys poping up these days and say "I´ve said it allways, that FSX is crap, I´ll fly with Prepar3D." They say that P3D is way better than FSX but it´s nothing more than the FSX engine and core code with annother User Interface and some glitches fixed. Which glitches? They never explain these!Sorry if I had been a bit harsh in my choice of words but this was just something I found I have to say!

Best regards, Steffen

The world is made 95% of ignorant as you state. Thanks, so stay away from our road.Much appreciated.

FLIGHT isnt crap, no its very good!. Performance wise it could be better, but its very nice.BUT.. yes, the BUT.. its not for us. Its for a totally different market. You all will see it when its released. It has nothing todo with what we are all doing, simming.

Frankly, those 'small' ms statements, are fairly telling...If someone wants a coin collecting super mario cart flight sim, fair enough.Chances are, they wont do the regions I fly in, so theres little point in looking till They do... plus, its not really going to best orbx, so why downgrade for a perhaps... different, maybe a little shiner, but overall lower quality sim? meh, I was going to pass before, that hasnt changed.

Really? I thought the performance was the high point. I couldn't believe how smooth it was, but ohhh my gosh is the FM arcady. Considering the view they start you out in is a 3rd person behind the plane view, which is actually easier to fly than being in the cockpit... You almost have to fly with the arcade dashboard because the panel instruments are nearly impossible to read.

What I expected was the next generation of the storied franchise. I expected a product that solved the issues of the past while adding the much needed simplification as an option for the new user, and the new "cloud" features and support. This new product is not that at all. It is clearly aimed at a new generation of casual users and perhaps gamers (which is a stretch). My only hope is that MS uses this as a springboard to straighten out FSX and sell that too as a FS11.While it is really none of my business, I also don't see this product as a particularily good thing for FS related websites like this one either. They too rely on the open architecture of the game for financial survival. There is no free lunch. On the Newswire Today....Will Consumer Electronics Show curse strike again?Peter Svensson/AP Technology WriterNEW YORK - The largest trade show in the Americas must be a great place to show off new products, right? Wrong. The International Consumer Electronics Show is quickly becoming a launch pad for products that fall flat.Bob - Las Cruces, NM.

I would change your forum name for a while if I was in you otherwise it seems you are advertising Flight this way. :(

I don't care much about any of the things you mentioned. The fact that there won't even be an SDK is quite frankly, the end, even before you get to anything else. I don't think you quite grasp the gravity of the situation. That said, FSX will be alive and well for years to come. Flight! will NOT be replacing it, in any way or form as it currently stands. I think people also have a right to be a bit disenchanted with Microsoft for the way they handled the whole thing, and they've basically killed their last lovable franchise. There's a lot more to it than what your post suggests.

This new product is not that at all. It is clearly aimed at a new generation of casual users.
Do you know this for a fact because you know the internals of Flight and what it contains and what will be available or are you basing it on marketing that shows waypoints, missions and pilot profiles?

@Superpilotv2If i cook you a burger and spit in it infront of your face, will you eat it?Its no dffrence from what M$ has done..made a new sim, and spat in the face of the people that wanted, and was led to believe, this was going to be a step forward.Hence why im not even going to drive past the resturant (DLC), let alone stop to eat in there...even if the food was free....Im not going to entertain it in any way, shape or form...im not even going to give them the satisfaction of having me visit the DL page and adding to the DL count.Just look at the gameplay...the UI...XP points..heading, thottle ect across the top of the screen...Listen to the narrator in the video's and what he says, and how much it relates to an arcade game.Like theBFG said..No SDK, no future - what-so-ever.Simple really..

Then please excuse us ignorant people who won't adapt to:No real world weather, no addons, no AI, no ATC, no world outside Hawaii, no slew, no realism settings, no way to disable auto coordination, no way to tweak aircraft performance, the exclusion of freeware, the exclusion of pay ware, no user menu, no nav aids, no ILS, no radio chatter, no working radios, no working nav equipment, no gps, no way to start on a ramp...shall I go on? Hell they been took away the moving traffic and boats! The world is dead, just YOU flying around collecting coins...or up to 20 of your favorite friends on MS games live looking for aero caches. You talk about expansions? I'm talking about just getting BASIC functionality back! and as far as addons, do you really believe that MS will replace the thousands of freeware and pay ware that make the FS world vibrant? They're going to have to since they removed any way for you to manually add sceney. How about the hundreds of airplanes? Since you can't add them manually any more. The scenery and aircraft folders are now proprietary DLLs...no texture folder no aircraft.cfg, no nothing. To me the epitome of ignorance is the ostrich who knows what looms ahead but sticks his head in the sand to pretend it is not there.

Id Rather Be FlyingSometimes you have to read between the lines. In this case those lines are pretty clear. Closed architecture programs are made for a target consumer. Open architecture programs are aimed at for an entire industry and related base of support. This franchise has been 25 years of open architecture, and that industry did get on board in a big way. Even real world avionics companies modelled and sold their products off of this marvel. Now they are all chopped off. That leaves kids that know how to use a mouse, and a hope that it catches on with gamers. In my opinion, that is a misread on what young gamers really like while completely closing the doors and ignoring both avid enthusiasts all over the world and an entire industry. It reeks with the misdirection of some suit who is totally out of touch with the wants and needs of an already existing huge customer base.Bob

It can be nice, price for areas could be affordable, I'll test it, BUT:- no SDK + unacceptable fees = no 3. party developers, which are specialized in a/c, scenery, etc. MS does NOT have their know-how for these. When you taste FS with PMDG/FS2Crew/HiFi, etc, etc, going back to MS default is just a no-go. Landscape textures are eye candy ? This is simply not enough !- use of MS network involves a threat for us, users of VATSIM or IVAO. To me, no-go. Human ATCs are a big bonus.- Price for all areas may be affordable. If not, as I'm a middle, long hauler: no go.Now more chances for me not to go ^^

Didn't we all have done it to ourselves? There was VERY little info from MS.They announced FLIGHTNobody told us it was a successor to FSXWe all made it up, hyped our own expectations, the tought was the father of the idea or something.Speculations ran wild, untill we saw what it is. And now we are dissapointed? maybe in our expectations.
