Go ahead, delete my account. You own the place, you can do whatever you want. No threats are necessary. Stop speaking like you are a lawyer wannabe with your trite "cease and desist" terminology. I don't waste time where my efforts aren't appreciated. Who cares to post in a forum whose owner can't see the forest for the trees and has an obvious bias in favor of Microsoft
I will take that as an admission that you have no facts to base your statements on... Wish granted.

One of the 3rd party developers can correct me if I am wrong and if their NDA allows it. I don't remember too many questions asked about the "engine" at our meetings in Redmond. Most of the folks there were from groups like AVSIM - you know, technically challenged. Only one was a "developer" that would meet our definition of the word. And don't ask... Unless they wish to reveal themselves, I can't answer the question; "who was the developer?".I don't believe that the issues with the 3rd party developers really have anything to do with the mechanics and technical bits and bob's with the FLIGHT platform. I believe the primary issue was terms and conditions of participation. Once a number of the developers said "up yours", I believe that Microsoft cut off significant portions and numbers of these conversations. As an example of closed communications I know that one prominent developer was not aware of the meeting in Redmond until I told him after the event. That developer not being included in that meeting said tons by itself.
I understand what you are saying but my questions was not related to why the 3PD are mad at MS, what I am trying to get at is that 3PD develpoer(s) who said something here at Avsim about their fallout with MS said nothing about the engine's capability. They could have been negative about Flight specs. but they said nothing about it so that is why I was asking if you or another guy present at the meeting asked questions about the engine capability, since you know the developer who was there you may want to ask him if he remember hearing questions on the engine and come back with an answer if this is not in breach his NDA.
Wise words, Tom. I myself am only VERY HAPPY with MS and MS Flight and I don't understand why a lot of people show so much hatred towards them. First of all: MS gave us FS. All those years of happy simming would not have been possible without MS. Secondly, MS didn't HAVE to create MS Flight. But they did. So why be angry about it? Be glad that flying on the PC still is alive. Things can ONLY get better... and because of that I don't understand all the anger. if things could get worse, then I'd understand it if people weren't happy. But not now.
My thoughts exactly, thanks getting it out so succinctly! Who really knows...Flight could come out of all this eventually being the FS of choice.

You know Alain, that possibility did not even occur to me. He only joined in August, so if he is a developer, he is new to the scene or this was a stealth account for him. :(

Maybe he works for Abacus.... :(
Arwen, on 16 January 2012 - 08:06 AM, said:No they do not.Just because Flight is being marketed differently (free core + bought DLC) than FSX (boxed DVDs), does not make it any less of a simulator. Despite what many here seem to think, Flight is still unfinished . . . it is still in Beta. I contend that there are still parts of Flight that are still under development (as in still being tested). It is not uncommon for a developer to not discuss things until they know that they will be in the released product. You keep talking about what Flight might be without any hard information whatsoever to base your beliefs on.
And perhaps I have a really good reason for not giving you that "hard information."And that you should perhaps have a little more faith in Flight's Team (40% of whom were on the Aces Team).

There are a couple of people who have been writing on here including etheris, that seem to be over the top in their consistent hate toward MS. I am not a professional psychologist but have had a lifetime of having to closely observe and monitor human behavior in my profession, but certain posters exhibit irrational or at least borderline behaviour, or what I think is much more likely the motivation, undisclosed conflict of interest. There is no way that kind of heat is normally generated and sustained this long by mere disappointment or disgust, but seems to me to be generated by a resentment level closer to revenge. There is a difference between almost everyone else that really dislikes Flight and those who seem to rant with altogether too much fury. Just my thoughts after reading every single post of the ones I have in mind. Tom, in my opinion the action you just took is entirely warranted. Indeed you showed more patience than I would have under the circumstances. Sorry to stick my oar in.Kind regards

Never attribute to malice, ...I really think that some people just have some ...erm.. potential in improving their reasoning skills. What if they actually believe their circular reasoning, having a hard time to differentiate between facts and assumptions? Using assumtions as the explanation for other assumtions? It is so tiring: "There will not ever be jets in Flight, BECAUSE there will only ever be Hawaii"....

LMFAO

Do you have any details on this? Just curious.

Tom said in his blog that it was just one person from the ACES team?

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Do you have any details on this? Just curious.

"The team behind Microsoft Flight consists of roughly 50 people, including a mix of professional pilots, 40% of which worked on the previous team. Three years into development, Project Manager Joshua Howard invited a select few involved in the Flight Simulator community to visit the Microsoft campus in Redmond WA, to see the project thus far."

Wasn't the "previous team" Aces?
