what are you flying while you wait for your FO

i have tried, tried, and tried some more to get through an NGX flight without getting that 'empty' feeling and i just can't do it.since we can't have our FO right now, i decided to park my 737-800 and put it in storageso i thought i'd ask what other people are taking up these days besides the NGX (if you are in the same boat as me with the FO)fs2crew has completely spoiled me, and these days i have to fly something that has it or i just don't enjoy the flight.i have done a lot of 747 flying the past few days, it's amazing how much you forget when you don't fly the queen for a while...but my FO helped me with all the checklists. i decided to create an extra camera view with ezdok and i put it in one of the business class seats behind my VC flight deck.i recorded a couple landings/takeoffs using fsrecorder and replayed them watching out the passenger window in the cabin (nerdy...i know) still makes me feel like i'm sitting there though!also have flown the JS41 an almost equal amount. that thing is just so fun to fly because it's so hands on, but having that FO makes it easy.even so i still find it's a challenging bird to take upi also tried bringing out my LDS 767 (after I vacuumed all the mothballs and dusted the glareshield). even though it's super old now, it was still enjoyable to fly because my FO was there, inputting altitudes, pushing buttons (sometimes buttons I didn't tell him to push), and giving me my checklists.that plane has the worst graphics in my fleet and i have to say flying it is more enjoyable at the moment over my NGX simply because of the FOamazing how much immersion that 2nd officer gives us, isn't itokay, i'm done boring the forum half to death

I know this post has an ulterior motive. :( FS2Crew and the SDK will come soon enough, I'm sure. The NGX is still the most enjoyable bird I own, regardless of multi-crew add ons. What I've worked on this weekend is purchasing the -700 expansion, grabbing some AirTran (prettiest liveries period) and Southwest repaints, and splurging on Southwest and AirTran focus cites.

  • FSDT KLAS, KFLL, KDFW
  • BluePrint Simulations KDAL, KRDU (an airport I'm very, very familiar with from my pipeline patrol) This one kills my FPS and doesn't look that great, but it is accurate.
  • ImagineSim KATL

Break down: Yes, I spent a ton of money on addons this weekend. No, I'm not done with my collection; I've got a few more sceneries to go before I'm finished. I am enjoying my toys thoroughly, regardless of buyer's remorse, and I'm really digging this -700!Edit: And some AES Credits.

I'm still flying the NGX, even without a copilot. But I'm really hard waiting for FS2Crew to come out.

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

Yeahh, it's time to make the best aircraft for FSX finally perfect !!!!

I also had that "empty" feeling in the NGX being used to the company of the FS2Crew FO but after I did my own checklist helping me remember all the important steps during a normal flight in combination with buying XPax for only a few $ and record my own pilot announcements I actually have more fun flying and feel more comfortable and confident flying than I did in a long time.I too simply love FS2Crew but one thing I prefer with being without it is you don't get "spoiled" in the flightdeck with all routines but have to really know everything yourself. Of course you need to know everything regardless if you have company by a FO or not but like someone else said you forget about things you don't do regularly amazingly quick...

There are probably to types of simmers: The ones flying for the sake of "simulation", and the more geeky probably who want to study most variables of a system.FS2Crew couldn't spoil me since I've purchased it and never used it, because of two reasons:1. I wanted to see the result of every action I'm gonna make.2. Time spent on learning and getting used to the procedures with the FO better be allocated to knowing more than your FO.The NGX is new, immerse, complex and challenging. It is a long learning curve for non-real-world pilots. It would make sense that you would first try to master "flying" the thing, before delegating the routine tasks to your virtual FO.That said, I do agree that FS2Crew makes it easier when it comes to handling ATC and turning knobs especially when things are fast paced and requires you to focus on flying.

Frame rate can really be enhanced following some instructions available on this forum.I've also done the following to insure a smooth frame rate:1. Connected the laptop to a wide 26" screen using an HDMI cable2. Extended views to the laptop screen so it acts as a secondry monitor while I default to the wide screen3. Use the keyboard! Assign your regular selectors, put stickers where you want them to be to avoid mouse-clicking during critical takeoff and landing moments4. While in the 2D panel, press "Shift+1" to get rid of the panel.5. undock and drag the PFD, ND, UPPER/LOWER EICAS to the extended screen(s), so you can focus on the displays you need to monitor.6. when flying manually, pop up the panel you need to configure, and switch off again. this consumes less time adjusting your cursor in the VC.7. If your computer is not ultra-capable, sacrifice some of your texture quality by dragging the sliders a bit to the left.8. If scenery is what you want to enjoy, maximize textures, then fly the default Beechcraft, lol. This will give you less VC experience BUT, will let you focus on "flying" the NGX.Indeed, you'd want to enjoy some magnificent views of the Alps from high above on beautiful day, but the NGX is for those who want to take control, not the ones who want to sit in the jumps seat and watch with joy, IMO.

I'm with you with everything you say and especially the times when I do miss a FO is when on a fast paced dep or arr flying online with ATC and lots of rapid instructions and at the same time trying to fly the a/c correctly.Regarding the framerate the best thing I've done in several years in my simming was to buy a second PC (a laptop) where I run pretty much everything like EFB, AS 2012, XPax, IvAp etc leaving all the muscles of my main PC to FSX. Part from giving me much better performance it's very convenient to have all those extra addons and especially EFB on a second PC and monitor always in view.

when not flying the NGX I fly the DCS A10 Warthog with the amazing Hotas warthog joystick and throttle which also works great with theNGX imo

I mix it up and fly the MD-11, 747-400, NGX. Keeps things fresh and I don't need a co-pilot for any of em. If you can't do without a co-pilot then just uninstall the NGX until FSCrew is released whenever that is.

there is no other aircraft out there that needs FS2crew voice more than the NGX lol. They will be a match made in heaven. For an aircraft thats so much fun to fly "hands-on" its gonna be great to concentrate on a hand flown HGS guided low vis approach while your right hand man handles the flaps/gear etc without you having to take you hands off stick.

I been wondering why anyone had to take their hands off the stick and needed a co-pilot. Then I realized not everyone has controllers with a ton of buttons like I do with the X52 Pro. I guess it does make it a lot easier. 5474.jpgI have the following assigned to the X52-Pro.ThrottleAuto Pilot DisconnectAuto Throttle DisconnectTrimFlaps AxisSpoiler AxisSpoiler Arm/DisarmThrust ReversersStickAuto Pilot EngageGo Around EngageVNAV EngageLNAV EngageLanding GearReset eyepoint ViewPOV ViewCycle ViewZoom ViewParking Brake Engage/DisengageAuto Brakes Increase/DecreaseMap ViewAS2012 XgaugeWith the following options I never have to take my hands off the controls on approach. So I never give having a co-pilot a second thought because everything is right at my finger tips. But given the fact that most controllers don't have all these button options I can see now how some of you could use a co-pilot. Guess I just take it for granted because it so easy to control everything on the plane with my current controllers. I use the Saitek Rudder pedals to complete it. You can get all 3 pieces for about $260.00 USD.26-102-003-02.jpg

How do you switch from for example _app to _twr without using the mouse?
