January 30, 201214 yr Perfectly honest i'm not sure if i would be able to get on with a Yoke, Don't get me wrong they are the best of course but im so set in my ways and with some habits i have im alittle concerned that i may not get on with it.. I coud also just be being silly :)I also had a joystick for some years, but when i switched to a yoke (saitek pro flight yoke, and ten minutes after i bought it i discovered the cessna yoke, which is way better. Get it instead of the pro flight yoke) it was easy and much more instinctive, i also recommend MrKen's yoke mod if you finally get the pro flight yoke.
January 30, 201214 yr Pardon my ignorance, but why not?Cause you would cut your legs off durring ejections...LOL.. Maybe in RL you would, but in the sim, I hope your not gonna eject.;)JB Buzz313th
January 30, 201214 yr It all comes down to taste, but I find it more realistic to fly a liner with a joystick than to fly a fighter with a yoke.RegardsCarl Michael MOBO: ASUS SABERTOOTH X58. CPU: Intel i7-960. GPU: GeForce GTX590-3072MB. PSU: Corsair TX V2 850W. Win7 Ultimate. 12GB DDR3.
January 30, 201214 yr Just outa curiosity, does anyone know why most civil planes ended up with yokes instead of sticks?I heard a tale why this is. Curious if any of you know or if google has the answer.JB Buzz313th

Curious if any of you know or if google has the answer.JBI find that a yoke is relatively more comfortable in either hand than a stick. Besides that, I love both. Other than individual ergonomic designer's preferences, I can't think of a good reason. January 31, 201214 yr What I heard, is that it goes back to the early days of civil aviation and that all prior aircraft had sticks. (Hoping that the tale I heard is really the reason, and not just an old aviation wise tale)I'm afraid to give another hint as I might give it away.JB Edited January 31, 201214 yr by Buzz313th Buzz313th

Curious if any of you know or if google has the answer.JBMight have something to do with Buzz313th answer to my question.Edit: I suppose if you want to stick to realism, you use a yoke for a/c that actually do have a yoke and a stick for those that have sticks. Simple as that. Edited January 31, 201214 yr by wanabflyer Rick Hobbs
January 31, 201214 yr Might have something to do with Buzz313th answer to my question.I don't think so.. I know this is off topic a bit and if nobody minds, I'm interested to see if someone can figure it out. Another hint... has to do with percieving something as being easier because it seems............. ;)JB Edited January 31, 201214 yr by Buzz313th Buzz313th
January 31, 201214 yr Author Steve,Go for the "HOG"! You can fly a 737 with a stick - but you can't fly an A10 with a yoke.Remember though that you will need a set of pedals to go with the "HOG".-RegardsCarl MichaelSticking to the head line "what to choose", I here by dare to clutter to topic by asking the following:Not being quite erady to fly on line, I would like to hear recommendations for the best add on ATC?????RegardsCarl MichaelIt's ok i don't think your hogging the forum ok i have got Aerosoft PFE by the way i have not tried anything else but i really enjoy this software and the virtual cp controls all comms love itI find that a yoke is relatively more comfortable in either hand than a stick. January 31, 201214 yr And look at the Airbus - there is a stick for a liner.............RegardsCarl Michael MOBO: ASUS SABERTOOTH X58. CPU: Intel i7-960. GPU: GeForce GTX590-3072MB. PSU: Corsair TX V2 850W. Win7 Ultimate. 12GB DDR3.
January 31, 201214 yr Author Get the hog. Just do it.Yeah i am more towards that one. i take it if i don'thave pedals there is still option on it to use rudder until i can get some..
January 31, 201214 yr He Steve just to let you know that I received my HOG this evening and all I can say is, WOW, it's such an awesome piece of equipment. I'm yet to use it within the FSX environment but have used it in DCS A10. The stick and throttle are some heavy, solid bits of hardware. All the switches feel good and the programming options in fsx are endless. Gavin Price
January 31, 201214 yr Congratulations Gavin.I Just wish that had such dove for that purpose.
