Hi,I have been searching for days for the start of the woodpigeon joke. Yes, you read that rights, days. I foolishly started my search by going through the first 500 pages of topics in this forum(the oldest). Bad idea, and my food kept getting cold :( . So I started doing forum searches, but still could not find the definitive beginning to the woodpigeon, albeit some ince preview shots were abundant. You can tell I really have too much time on my hands, but hey, its PMDG history, so its worth learning!and finally, yes, I am FULLY aware that it is a joke...Thanks,

I think the story basically goes like this:People were asking what PMDG should make (or making assertions of the same), and it devolved into the typical forum argument about why the other dude's argument was stupid, and then someone stepped in and broke it up with the idea of a woodpigeon.Sarcasm saves the day!I could be horribly wrong.

The earliest reference seems to have been by Paul Smith on January 19, 2010.Just search for woodpigeon 2010

What!! A joke?? They really are going to do the great Wood Pidgeon, but first need to find the engineering data from the original manufacturer. You know how important realism is to these guys.

ISTR it was Paul Smith as well. I also remember, very clearly, a certain Mr. Simone confirming some technical details.... ish :(

Ah gentlemen, you are really too generous, but I must, however, regretfully decline your kind acolades, for while I may have repeated the joke ad nuseum, I am also reasonably certain that it was someone else who proposed the WoodPigeon first as I remember having to look it up to see what they were talking about. (Turbine777 perhaps?)

Ah, yes, but... you will notice that just after that post, BillC refers to the (then) well established discussions of the Pidgeon on a 747-800 thread (that no longer appears to exist). I withdraw my case on the basis of BillC's post. It would seem the origins of the joke have been lost forever, unfortunately.

Oh forum memories. While I haven't been a member for very long, I have always followed these forums. Every time I see Ferd or the wood pidgeon mentioned, I let out a hefty chuckle......

I know nothing about the PMDG Woodpigeon or the WoodpigeonX. I hope this helps.
