New scenery pix

Where would I go to learn to do something similar myself. Lets say wanted to make my own version of an airport. Is there a scenery making tutorial somewhere?
You can't have seen many then,
They are the best I've ever seen too! Wow. Awesome

These shots are staggering, tweaked FSX scenery with x-plane 10 night lighting. If this guy could describe how he made these conversions, I think it would help the XP10 community immensely.Quite frankly these look better than any of the newest native payware scenery offerings for XP10(that I have seen).

It looks like some FSX developers are planning to have cross licenses for different platforms, I am just saying what has happened when discussions of fsx and P3d have been had. I don't know in the future how many will do this but I imagine given the work that could be required to port from fsx to xplane that at the minimum there would be some sort of crossplatform license if you already own the scenery. I say it as we should be wary about making it obvious and easy for people to take commercial fsx content and convert it to xplane. Just my 2c based on where I see a possible trend.

Gorgeous shot of the Emirates A380 and highway traffic. What airport was this picture taken?

Too bad that in that sim, right after takeoff, you can do flips and spins in that 747.....kinda kills a sim to me when that kinda stuff is possible with such ease as it is in XP10

You didn't notice the 747 carrier landing and takeoff in FSX? That's a definite showstopper right there.

You can't land a 747 on a carrier in fsx without modding it specifically (that video was a joke). Great pics, though. Would love to see a video with scenery at that quality, to see if the engine can handle the detail shown. If it could...wow. Got to love that lighting.

So where's the line then? "Johnny Thunder" said he flew the x plane 747, at low weight, at 360 kts and 1000 feet high. I've never heard of a 747 flying anywhere NEAR that speed. Even though it's Vne is about 370...give or take a few knots, the fastest IAS I have heard a 747 fly at is 330kts, and that's at somewhere between 12000 and 25000 feet. Where the air is MUCH less dense than at 1000 feet. When asked, no one at Boeing said the 747 couldn't do it, Theoretically, it probably could, but no one is stupid enough to try it because it was never certified for it.To understand how x plane can handle the scenery, you need to disregard the way FSX handles scenery and graphics. It is completely different. I have a 1.6 million polygon aircraft that I made for X Plane and I am getting 50+ fps with it in X Plane 9. 29 fps and over in XP10 (on my system). I have never seen an add on for FSX anywhere near the million polygon mark.Edit: This was originally a response to both William and Rob, but Rob edited his post.

But...............at 1000' msl, the IAS would also be much higher. I have no idea of engine efficiency at 1000' for the 747, nor what it's top speed or Vne would be at 1000'. Converting a mach to knot table.............. . mega_shok.gif mach is 515 knots at sea-level.edit: where does that "emotion symbol" come from? It's suppose to say point eight zero

Those pics really makes me happy - for several reasons:1. Just coming from the PMDG forum, it seemes that we are 1 or 2 years from having a high fidelity aircraft from PMDG to fly in X-plane 10 - be it the JS41, the NGX or another, it doesn't reall matter, because it will the first in a string of many!2. coming from Aerosofts forums, it seemes that scenerys are also in the making (plus the ATR-72 - not systems wise deep enough for me, but still a good start).3. judging from the screenies here, it seemes that many other scenery developers are also doing their bit to take the FS community to the next level!!Very happy simmer here!Mas

Dammit, this is going to be a good ride, over the next few years.

Forum code translates .mega_shok.gif into a smiley, so you'll need to compensate and show it as .8_0
