Military Trainer

Featured Replies

Hello all,I'm looking for some advice, I'm looking to find myself a good single engine military trainer. Preferably a turbo-prop but perhaps a jet would be OK - Would prefer payware quality, tend to avoid freeware aircraft. If anyone knows of any good ones could you let me know? I've had a look around but all I can find is freeware stuff. Many thanks,James

Iris released freeware PC9 and Texan II which might do you some good

You will love either one of these:Lotus L-39CMilviz T-38A (as mentioned above... twin engine, but nothing impeding visibility.)Ken

If you're interested in single-engine piston prop "Basic Trainer" Realair SF-260 may be a choice. In real life this model still performs this role in many air forces.Kivanc.

Avoid freeware aircraft??? Dino Cattaneo's T45C is definitely top mil payware quality.

Oh yes, the Dino T45 is simply stunning!. I usually avoid freeware too, but this is one you'll never regret installing! Payware quality but free. Add to that the freeware carriers and you'll be in for hours of fun!

Milviz T-38a totally kicks &@($*. The Lotus L39 is also pretty good. Same with the RealAir SF260.

Iris Texan ii and pc9 are amazing. They were aware but now freeware so you can't lose.

At Unity Security Force, we started new pilots on the T-6 Texan II by IRIS Simulations, followed by intermediate training in the T-45C by Dino Cattaneo. Advanced training was in a T-38, moving operationally to an F/A-18E (VRS Superbug, currently on special at http://www.flightsimdealoftheday.com/). This mirrors the real-world pretty closely, starting with a turboprop, then a non-reheating single-engine jet, then a simple'ish reheating jet followed by the real deal.

The one that I fly the most is the IRIS T-6 II trainer that was built for all the US services. 4 Bladed turboprop, cruises 240 kts and absolutely loaded with avionics and goodies. About 20 liveries, $5.00, $10.00 or free. Just look around. I got it for the $5.00 charge. This is the exact simulation that the USAF Academy is current using for their cadets. ( it was actually built for them).Ray
