February 25, 201214 yr Slowly will begin to assemble a new PC.Need to begin with the case. I guess I will need 5 hard drives and a DVD drive. One or two USBs on the front, 1 audio on the front. Size does not matter - the larger the better. I have no desire to sit and look at LEDs in the case, interior lighting is a waste for me. I already have a 700w power supply. Cooling and cabling would be the prime areas of interest. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
February 25, 201214 yr I use the Coolermaster HAF X. Awesome huge case with good airflow. Makes very easy assembly of your pc. Not sure how it compares to the 932. Matt Wilson
February 25, 201214 yr I really like my Corsair 650D (see my build photos here), but their new 550D seems to be a great improvement from what I can see. February 25, 201214 yr Get a Corsair 600T or 500R. Very affordable and they have tons of great features for hardcore users.
February 29, 201214 yr HAF 932 is a great case for the money. Maybe even a switch 810. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
February 29, 201214 yr In my new build I researched for and opted for as efficient, quiet and heat transfer capabilities case as I could find. I chose the Antec Performance One Series P183 V3 Black Aluminum / Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer CaseWhat I liked best was the bottom mount PSU inside of its own cooling chamber. It is isolated from all the other components and therefore does not contribute to the heat generated by the modo or video components. Besides, the bigger the case, the more volume of air you need to move to keep it all air cooled (liquid too, for that matter). My new build choices:1 x ($244.99) EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P3-1469-KR GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card1 x ($224.99) Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I52500K1 x ($219.99) SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply1 x ($204.99) ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS1 x ($139.99) Antec Performance One Series P183 V3 Black Aluminum / Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case1 x ($107.99) Seagate SV35 Series ST3500411SV 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -1 x ($99.99) Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM1 x ($69.99) Prolimatech PRO-MGH-C Megahalems Revision C CPU Cooler1 x ($59.99) Mushkin Enhanced Redline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 9969811 x ($12.99) EVERCOOL F-EC12025H12BP 120x120x25mm High Speed Double Ball Bearing Fan I have a couple of Antec TrueQuiet 120 120mm Case Fan to use in the front of the case on back order. I found this calculator to be of great interest and guidance when I selected my PSU. My choice may have a bit of overkill, but I chose it for the silent running capabilities as well.http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jspDon Edited February 29, 201214 yr by Fragmentum Illigitimi non-carbrundum
February 29, 201214 yr My last two builds have been in the Coolermaster HAF 932--excellent airflow, and the low-speed 230mm fans are dead quiet. March 3, 201214 yr So many HAF recommendations. How about the Fractal Design ARC Mini? Corey Meeks FS2020 | AMD 7800X3D | ASUS ProArt 4080 Super | ASUS B650E-I Mini ITX | 2x32Gb DDR5-6000 CL32 | DELL 38" U3818DW (3840x1600) | FormD T1 | Thermalright AXP90-47 | Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W
March 3, 201214 yr I've heard Fractal cases are great, but the OP is looking for size, that's why I suggested a full tower
March 4, 201214 yr So many HAF recommendations. It's big as hell and cheap! Personally I think it looks hokey. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 4, 201214 yr It's big as hell and cheap! Personally I think it looks hokey. I somewhat agree. I like it but it feels a bit cheap to me. I saw one in person at Microcenter yesterday.
March 4, 201214 yr It's big as hell and cheap! Personally I think it looks hokey.Since looks are completely subjective, I was really trying hard to keep my negative opinion of HAF cases to myself, but now that you brought it up I'll start pouring the haterade! They're UGLY, they're tacky, and they look like some sort of transformer I should have owned at the age of 14. Then again, I've always taken myself way too seriously... even my 650D feels tacky at times. I'm really tempted to build up a super awesome mATX rig.For us flight simmers, a mATX rig is all we really need. Most of us only run a single GPU as that's all that's necessary. With super high capacity mechanical drives and super high speed solid states, I don't know why anybody needs more than 2 or 3 hard drives in a system either. I don't even use my optical drive any more. I already use the 5.25" bays for hard drives so I can remove all the 3.5" bays. The cool thing about the Fractal Arc Mini is that you can do all sorts of stuff in it with no modification. Check it out - 2x120 radiator up top, 2x120 at the front, and a single 120 on the bottom: Edited March 4, 201214 yr by cmeeks Corey Meeks FS2020 | AMD 7800X3D | ASUS ProArt 4080 Super | ASUS B650E-I Mini ITX | 2x32Gb DDR5-6000 CL32 | DELL 38" U3818DW (3840x1600) | FormD T1 | Thermalright AXP90-47 | Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W
