Thumb up or down

Going to be fun looking this going up or down. This is a very known german website presenting how many people liked it or not.Right now 878 votes, 84% positive. And 96,000 downloads! Talk about amounts. I guess Microsoft wasn't that wrong after all.http://www.chip.de/downloads/Microsoft-Flight-Vollversion_54808573.html

um, but that is FSX...on the other hand: close to 100k downloads just from 1 country and 1 website for FSX, how much could this be for Flight worldwide via the central Live marketplace then...

Flight download's likely is hundreds of thousands at this point.DLC is probably selling very well also.

It's for the FSX demo and dosn't give the time period covered so it's totally irrelevant.

I think MS knows what it is doing. One important point that I think was missed in the flames is that Flight will bring new interests in flight simming and re-energize the consumer flight simulator market. This is important as 3rd party developers want an expanding market or their products, and I will not be surprise if there soon be new developer for Flight. I have not tried Flight yet, but plan to. From what I see from the info sources, It is FS 11 or FSX brought forward, whatever it is, MS does it right by gradually adding on, allowing increase complexity and sophistication based on user need and pocket depth.More importantly, Flight may even bring new bloods to join the hardcore crowd. I have seen on forums about 3rd Party developer on FSX pulling back or not adding new projects, since the market does not justify the cost of development. Therefore, hopefully Flight will have spilling over market for FSX which will support the 3rd Party developer to produce more good add-on for us all.Just my humble 2 cents

You probably missed the thousands or so posts about MS NOT releasing an SDK for MS Flight and hence NO 3rd party addons. Not now, not ever. Unless they change their strategy/policy. Everything that is going to be released for MS Flight will be released by MS itself. If they will actually make everything themselves is another story, of course, but we will NOT get the 'free 3rd party addon market' we have been used to for so long.

I think a lot of people are of that opinion. I'm not impressed with Flight myself, but can see that it may well serve an important purpose long term if it does increase awareness of other products. After all, I'd never heard of X Plane before I got into MSFS, nor several other flight platforms.Mathijs Kok at Aerosoft has made some interesting points in this regard in this thread on his forum:http://forum.aerosof...s-flight-topic/Ian

I have FSX with just about every addon imaginable both in scenery, airports, and aircraft. Third party developers have helped make my FSX what it is today. It runs great ( I now have Windows 7 64 bit i7 2600), looks great, and gives me a very realisitc experience. I feel that it will become even better as more is developed. Look at FSDream teams airports as an example. Now on to Flight..... All I can say even though it doesn't have AI,ATC,Flight planner, jets, the world and all of the rest of the capabilities (realworld) that FSX has; is WOW! The scenery, aircraft, and presentation to detail is fantastic!I spent hours last night exploring the islands and you would be surprised by all of the hidden waterfalls, streams and landmarks. Very well done!I also got hooked on the missions. It is not easy flying a Stearman and landing on a grass or dirt strip between trees. Strips that you don't see until last minute; and landing successfuly. This is a challenge even for the most experienced pilots. It was actually fun! Maybe Microsoft does know what they are doing.Hopefully Microsoft will expand Flight. The world created with this level of detail and the "living" capabilities of FSX would be unbelievable. You get the picture.I don't know; as well as the rest of us what will develop; but until then I will use both (FSX and Flight) side by side and enjoy every last minute of it.

that's in not even 2 days more 20% of the total downloads of FSX which is quite impressive, taking into account that we talk about a site in Germany

Its pretty much to be expected. A consumer level Flight Sim will draw a lot of attention because many people love the thought of flying. The problem has been that accessibility to the general public has not been a major concern for many, and now that MS is once more concentrating on that audience, it will reap the rewards.Expect MS to pull in dollar amounts that will leave any competitors far far behind.

I have many add-ons for FSX and my visuals and flying experience has increased propotionately with these 3rd party ad-ons.Flight looks great, but I will stay with FSX and continue to grow my Flight Sim X with the many great add-on products which are developed and are in development.

Yeah but look at the thumbs up and down percentages 69% down 31% up vs the 84%up for the FSX Demo. It's easy to get people to download when it's free, it's harder to get them to like it. Those numbers don't bode well for Flight!

I will explore this again after a few weeks allows some balancing of possible number skewing from concerned niche voters. At least, I hope only one vote per person is allowed,
