Interested to hear some FPS reports, as well as interested to see some night shots of the runways and taxiways to see if they improved the lighting over how they did it at SBGR which looks horrible imho. At SBGR the taxiway/runway lights are way to big and bright, you can even see the blue taxiway lights when your miles out on final.

Hi jimburke, how are you?Just to explain what happened with SBGR.There were 3 sceneries where Gmax custom coded lights (that causes those effects) were used: Guarulhos/SBGR, Ezeiza/SAEZ and OPorto/LPPR. This last one received an update replacing these kind of taxiway/runway lights. Future updates for the other 2 airports may eventually be done.We have never used this kind of lights anymore on any other scenery.Gmax custom lights were introduced to avoid SP2 issues with SCASM coding where AI aircraft not compiled with FSX SDK would not appear at the airport when shadows were turned on in the options. Since the custom lights was not ideal, we scrapped that and now use AFCAD lights that are originally blocked due to custom ground, so a workaround for that and which is being used by most developers that create custom grounds, is making the ground polygon semi-transparent in runways and PAPI areas. This way, users can fly in our airports without having to turn of shadows as with time we have fully adapted to the SP2 way of being. Please take a look on the links bellow, they will open pics that show what you want to see @ KDCA:http://www.tropicalsim.net/preview/kdca_night.jpghttp://www.tropicalsim.net/preview/kdca_night2.jpgHope I have solved your doubt. My best regards,Carlos Pereira.www.tropicalsim.com

Id like to buy this Airport, but can I turn off the Photo Real ground textures? I just like UTX/GEX to come right up to the airport perimeters fences, so that way the airport fits into the surrounding terrain.

Hi Ron, how are you?Of course you can do this. All you have to do is remove a file, that we have named for this purpose:- kdcax_phototerrain_fs9.bgl if you are using FS9.- kdcax_phototerrain_fsx.bgl if you are using FSX.That's all.My best regards,Carlos Pereira.www.tropicalsim.com

So will it look awful though Carlos? Will the runways and taxiways still stay there or will it default to what I have in REX?Thanks for the reply! You guys should do MORE US/Canadian Airports, there is such a big untouched market I would think!

Hi Ron.Removing the file I've mentioned will only delet the surrounding area and our autogen, exactly the way you want. The airport ground itself (our groundwork), with ramps, taxiways, runways, lightning, lines, parking marks, etc will remain there. Just our airport will be over your UTX/GEX.The same way we started doing European airports some time ago, we are looking at North America very carefully. He have already done Daytona Beach/KDAB and we have plans to do other airports there for sure.My best regards,Carlos Pereira.www.tropicalsim.com

So, has anyone bought this and can report back on how well it performs? I'm thinking of either getting KDCA or Ben Gurion over at Aerosoft. I would probaby get more use out of KDCA and have been wanting a version of that for FSX for a while now, but am concerned about performance. Plus since theres no refund policy I dont want to get stuck with something I wont use due to FPS problems like I did with a recent purchase of Anchorage X that doesn't perform well on my rig, or a lot of other peoples from what I have read. Thanks

I bought it lately. It is very FPS friendly even with the PMDG 737NGX. I average around 25 FPS around the area. Definitely a must buy.Her are my specsi7 950 OC 4.212GB Radeon 6870 crossfire

Thanks for the info. Guess I will probably get it, maybe after one or two more feedbacks. I am surprised that I haven't read more user reports on that airport yet since it seems like its been requested a lot for FSX. Maybe a lot of people still dont know its out.Anyway, thanks for the info.

Yeah, I always considered it Tropical Sim's secret project. It is very well done. Good quality compared to their other airports.

I have it. The ADE file needs a little work if you have any bizjets in your traffic. You also need to add in the approach data if you want approaches to show up with ATC. I have not flown in to it yet but performance seemed pretty good when I was looking around and making changes.
