May 1, 201214 yr Jim, Those "anomalies" with a different type of concrete are actually there in the real airport--you can see it on Google Earth. The first time I saw that in an FS addon I thought it was a bug too! James
May 1, 201214 yr Jim, nice AI. Could you please let me know where I could get the new United Express or United liveries? Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
May 1, 201214 yr Hi. Our KDCA is confirmed to be present on the most recent AES release. It took some time to be available as Oliver (AES) was out on vacations. Thanks for the nice comments about the scenery. I hope you have great flights! Any problem or doubts, please just email us. My best regards, Carlos Pereira. www.tropicalsim.com
May 2, 201214 yr AES today! Just download v2.22. Muito obrigado Carlos e Leandro! May 2, 201214 yr Moderator I'm about to pull the trigger on this one too. How's the afcad regarding approaches (lda, or river visual - sorry I don't remember precisely what they are in DC)? May 7, 201214 yr I just did a flight from MIA. When I contacted DCA tower, landings were on Rwy 15 and take-offs on Rwy 1. I use Active Sky Evolution and it game me calm winds out of Mag 341, and when I monitored the real world airport, most traffic was taking off and landing on Rwy 19. Maybe that requires an AFCAD tweak to make it more realistic. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the intricacies of designing runway ops on ADE. May 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member From what I've seen the Cloud 9 scenery is soooo much better. And it was made years ago but hasn't age very much at all. I own many of the FSDT/C9 sceneries and from a quality standpoint them and FlyTampa are in a league of their own. Tropical SIm is nice as well, just not in that same class IMHO. I am a hardcore FS9er though, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. FSX is installed on my hard drive simply for development duties and obligations, and as far as personal use goes it's FS9 all day for me. Emil
May 7, 201214 yr Moderator From what I've seen the Cloud 9 scenery is soooo much better. And it was made years ago but hasn't age very much at all. The only problem is that the C9 version is only for FSX, so comparing it to what we have available for FSX, which is no other KDCA, is really a moot point. I never had the C9 version back my FS9 days so I can't compare, but I honestly dont see anything wrong with the latest version when it comes to looks and performance. Do you have the TropicalSim version for FSX installed? And if so, what makes the older C9 version better than the newer TropicalSim version? Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

Emil I agree that Tropical Sim's airports are not in the same league as Fly Tampa's airports, but with KDCA they made a major leap forward. KDCA is easily Tropical Sim's finest work to date. MSFS
May 8, 201214 yr I'm very thankful to TropicalSim for having taken on this airport. It look great. I will probably provide them with some real world runway use data to see if they can make it more accurate on the AFCAD. I own the Cloud 9 DCA scenery and have it installed for FS9. I do not own it but I am simply looking at the screenshots and merely offering an objective opinion. The modeling, texturing and overall fit and finish of the scenery from a quality standpoint looks superior to Tropical Sim's. That's just my opinion, it doesn't make it right or wrong. Everyone has their own preference for addons and brands. Emil
