April 29, 201214 yr They released a service pack (brand new installer) yesterday. I live in the DC area, and I'm happy to see this airport. Leandro from Tropical Sim is great with customer service. He even took my suggestions for more realistic AI parking to reflect real-world ops. April 29, 201214 yr Moderator Any difference in performance with the stuff they added? Presently I get good FPS at this airport and in a way hate to update and get a performance decrease, although I could always uninstall the updated version and go back to my prior installer. I think better visuals and performance. Tropicalsim hit the ball out of the park with this one. MSFS

I hope they moved the jetway in that was blocking one of the AAL parking spots. When parking at the spot which I dont remember which gate it was, the jetway was extended right in the middle of the taxi line. When using GSX to park it would guide you right into it, so I guess the ADE is correct but the jetway needs to be moved over to the side a bit. Guess I will re-download it and KSTL again right now. April 30, 201214 yr Plus since theres no refund policy I dont want to get stuck with something I wont use due to FPS problems like I did with a recent purchase of Anchorage X that doesn't perform well on my rig, or a lot of other peoples from what I have read. That's very strange. you have a slightly more powerful system than I do. But I can run Anchorage X with NGX fairly well in FS9 and FSX. Using GEX and UTXAlaska. My FPS average in low teens at some parts of airport, but all is still fliud and no slide show. I get FPS in the high teens to low twenties using the NGX and of course that depends on where I am looking. Its funny that the performance remains about the same with or without traffic turned on. I've owned a few bad performing sceneries in my time, most of which I have been able to fix on my own, but even after having dissected PANC I have not been able to nail down what the problem is. I know i'm not the only one as I have seen quite a few threads on PANC were people were not too thrilled with the performance, most having rigs much better than mine. I can't say that i am that heart broken about it though since it wasn't an airport that I really wanted that bad and honestly only bought it due to the fact that it was on sale and I was curious. Coincidentally another airport I got from Aerosoft, NiceX the original release, was a horrible performer on my rig, yielding only 20 FPS max. With some leg work I was able to fix it and now get 30+ FPS there, but PANC has been a tough nut for me to crack. On the subject of KDCA from TropicalSim, it has been a solid performer on my rig, getting FPS that are actually a little better than the default version. Question for you, is the DCA scenery better than the older cloud 9 version? Does it have Crosswind rwy's? I might give it a go. April 30, 201214 yr I have great FPS, and the scenery looks great, and I've been only using the NGX since it came out. Leandro also said it would become AES compatible, so those of you who like moving jetways will be happy. I haven't stuck around at the airport long enough to see if they have cross wind capability. April 30, 201214 yr I like the scenery and especially the Metro subway in the update. I have an issue though with the south end of the airport as shown in the pictures below: Is anyone else seeing this? I have another KDCA scenery installed but it's disabled in the Scenery Library. Best regards, Jim
April 30, 201214 yr Is anyone else seeing this? I have another KDCA scenery installed but it's disabled in the Scenery Library. Yes, I just went to Google Earth and saw the same thing. Isn't that how things should be done? I don't have the airport, too big for my type of flying.
April 30, 201214 yr Yes, I just went to Google Earth and saw the same thing. Isn't that how things should be done? I don't have the airport, too big for my type of flying. No, I'm trying to show anomalies in the scenery. In the top photo you see horrible looking concrete or asphalt. Best regards, Jim
April 30, 201214 yr I'm trying to remember if the jetways are supposed to be animated? They don't for me. Jack Fentress
April 30, 201214 yr Moderator I'm trying to remember if the jetways are supposed to be animated? They don't for me. Jack Fentress No, their static AES is required to make them move. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 30, 201214 yr However, they are not an AES supported airport. At least as of this date. So..... nice airport, no animated jetways. Would be better if the jetways were animated under whatever conditions, but still, a nice airport. Jack F.
