The pictures above look like what FSX was supposed to look like with DX10 (anyone remember that shot). B)
Yes sir, I sure do:Here is what FSX sp1 default with DX9 was supposed to look like:169FSX_PR_DIRECTX9_1_.jpgHere is what Microsoft said the same scene would look like in DX10:798FSX_PR_DIRECTX10.jpgThe problem was, it was just an artist's rendering, not the real thing, but we were not told that. It really blew up in Aces' face, and who knows, may have indirectly been a contributing factor in their eventual demise. It was really big news and a serious matter to this community. Many of us felt we had been outright lied to.Kind regards,

Oh wow! I've been chatting with my mates about how much I'd love to fly around Alaska in MSF. After watching the show 'Flying Wild Alaska' I am super pumped for this! And the screenshots look immensely better than Hawaii does currently. I hope these aren't an 'artists renderings'

Good choice of location. Orbx PNW etc proved popular with GA fliers. Moutainous terrain is most interesting for ga sim flying, i think. Would love to see some small orbx-type areas of photoreal+hand placed 'autogen' - please, microsoft? Would look great with the new engine.

If you read what he wrote again I think you will see what he meant
Yes, read it again. But MS have at least mentioned another aircraft to go with the pack and I wonder what it could be....On another note, if they are doing Alaska I wonder what the chance is of a portion of Washington State? They are obviously modelling scenery which is great for low and slow GA, and those Washington State airfields originally done by Richard Goldstein is what got me into high quality 3rd party scenery back in 2004. They would be fantastic in Flight and we would enjoy the same consistency of quality from one scenery pack to another and indeed a consistent feeling of quality in the entire game.Either way, the Alaska Pack is "sold" onto my PC. Just waiting for the download date. I strikes me that I can buy 5 of these scenery add-ons for the price I paid for FS2004 when it came out. And with just 5 scenery packs, I would be getting more actual usage out of Flight than I ever got out of FS2004 or FSX, with the sole exceptions being my very rare long distance IFR flights.

Any word on how add-on areas will interact with eachother? I mean, is the world like a big puzzle table, and each "piece" (scenery area) takes its spot and allows for flights in and out without a loading screen of some sort? Gotta admit, as someone who generally leans on the Con side of the Flight model (no pun intended), those Alaska screenies look scrumptuous.

Well if it takes 3 months to make a second area, may I presume it will take 10 years for the whole world ?It will be the first time in history than an Anchorage / Hawaï flight will be 100% oversea ...

I find this very intruiging. I'll be following this closely!

I'm a big fan of payware scenery and scenery in general...in 30 years, we have not managed to cover most of the world in "specific", non-generic scenery. As has been mentioned many times - go fly sth america, africa or default australia. Anywhere outside usa and some of europe is pretty generic. And even the good areas are far from reality. So i guess high-quality scenery worldwide might take that long. It hasn't been done yet. I guess what many of us would like is fsx-quality worldwide scenery as a base with a focus on high quality regions as an overlay. At the moment, ms is focusing on the latter without the former. And with no complex airliners and a few other bits missing - i wouldn't use whole world scenery in flight right now anyhow. Happy for them to focus on getting ga right and releasing region packs to fly this sort or aircraft in, at least for now.

I dont like that town screenshot, others are really nice.
I think its because of those cotton ball clouds in the shot

Hey, they're releasing 1.2 million square miles aren't they? Wikipedia tells me alaska is about half that size - so what else are they covering (i'm presuming the answer is not '550,000 square miles of ocean!).
