March 10, 201214 yr "MS Flight is a totally different product. Pretty much arcade for the kids and the frail ..."Sorry, that was kind of over the top. By frail I meant that if you couldn't or wouldn't do the real thing, fsx, this is an easy have fun kind of game, jump in and fly. Yes, there are serious simmers, maybe even me some day, who will enjoy being able to just cruise around and not worry about flight plans and weather and all that stuff and just have fun. I really didn't mean to insult or put down anyone who used it, and looking back at the post, it could be interpreted that way. My bad, my apoologies...

I really didn't mean to insult or put down anyone who used it, and looking back at the post, it could be interpreted that way. My bad, my apoologies...Thanks for the clarification and the apology, that was very decent and big of you.I am a serious simmer, having owned several previous versions and have logged several hundred hours in FSX, still enjoy it very much - and I certainly don't consider Flight an arcade - and I am nowhere near a kid or being frail -- well, to be fair I guess there will always be a kid in me - that is what my wife tells me anyway :(.At it's core, there is a heck of a simulator there - whether MS builds upon that going down the road and into the future remains to be seen, but it sure has possibilities.I know the direction MS took with the release of Flight, has dissappointed many of our long time hard core simmers - I would only say to them - the core product is free, if you haven't taken the time, why not download the core product and try it out and come to your own conclusions. I am one of the aforementioned, and was frankly surprised by what I found. And I am just one example, and there are others - that both sims can be enjoyed. Sure it is not for everyone, like our beloved FSX is not for everyone. I have found myself in a position now though, I have two really good civilian flight sims on my computer to be enjoyed. Don B
March 15, 201214 yr I am in the same boat. I am sticking with fsx for a long while I think. I avoid the Flight board like the plague because I feel like I am in some kind of Orwellian world in there. I will never post a negative thought about Flight ever again but instead post on how great my fsx setup is right now. I have invested way too much to be not flying in VATSIM and my trusty fleet of amazing planes. When not in VATSIM, Ultimate Traffic 2 immerses me into a living world. I am so addicted to the 737 ngx and its accurate systems that I am amazed every time I fly. The weather I see from REX using HD textures sometimes takes me by surprise on how real they look and FPS so smooth. I supported the third party developers and continue to do so because I really think they have huge pride in their work and it shows. I will pay for a good experience and I intend to support these guys with the limited budget I set aside for add-ons. I will also give MS ACES team props on FSX although I had spent way too much tweaking to get it just right. Lastly, I give huge props to AVSIM on allowing me access to an amazing array of information and access to freeware downloads by dedicated kind devs. This is my forum of choice because the other one is a bit too weird for me. cheersReubsUT2, UT Canada/USA,REX 2 HDORBX PNW NR (PF next),PMDG 747-400, 737 800/900 NGX, LD767-300, RealAir Turbine Duke, Carenado P46T, ASA B-17EZDOK, ASA Accufeel,FSDT GSX KLAX KLAS KJFK KORD, FSRecorder (i will donate because its that good),ASE Weather Engine,System SpecsShader 3 enabledI5-750 OCed to 4000 (29C idle)Coolermaster Hyper 212 (amazing value)8GB RAM DDR3XFX Radeon 6950 FSX installed on Intel 320 SSD 160G

Well, I haven't mainly because I don't want to bother learning something that doesn't have the depth yet to warrant the time and effort! FSX still fills the bill very well, and I'm even using dated hardware. I'll take a peak sometime if and when it really gets traction as a viable substitute for FSX and the depth it offers. March 16, 201214 yr Commercial Member MS Flight is a totally different product. Pretty much arcade for the kids and the frail but that's ok, some of them will gradutate to simmers like us. That will boost our community and, from what I can see. that's one of the most powerful things about fsx. Yep, thats true. Its pretty clear that Flight is what we see now. Its arcadish game with mainstream as its target audience, and theres nothing wrong with that. I can´t see how Flight could ever mature to FSX kind of simulator in future, its not going to do that and its not meant to do so as its different kind of product and will always be so.I myself like longer haul jet flights as really all my contacts to aviation in real life have been during my real world travelling, and also I like to have free choise to fly anywhere I want. Thats why Flight is not my cup of tea, but surely it has some entertainment value for many of those who like to fly around with smaller planes. And of course it can indeed get new people interested in FS serie kind of simulators too, which is good.
