Re engaging CMD A

Featured Replies

I accidentally disengaged the autopilot and have had a few problems regaining control of the auto pilot.Once I was in steady flight I managed to engage CMD B and not A. Could anybody advise me of how I can renegade CMD A

Hi,I don't know how high the actual number is however something about like 30 lbs of pressure at the yoke when the AP is engaged can force some parts to break. This disables the autopilot for this flight, and has to be repaired by maintenance. I don't know how it is exactly handled in the SIM, however I can imagine if you move your yoke/joystick to fast as long as the AP is engaged you may trigger this failure. So you will have to fly on with your CMD B and you won't be able to do an auto land. :( Best regards,Jonathan

Thanks for the reply on my way to Manchester from Tenerife, I suppose I will need to be brave and do a manual landing, all adds to the fun :)

Brave? In RL that's what the crews do 99% of the time.Iain Smith

Huh? Can someone confirm this please? I always thought that moving the yoke just disengaged the AP, but not for the entire flight nor something needed fixing?..Bert Van Bulck

Hi Bert,Yes moving the yoke disengages the AP, however I heard that when you pull/push the yoke to brutal withe the AP on you may disengage it for the whole flight.Best regards,Jonathan

Igors, Jonathan, both correct. A gentle movement will bump respective channel into CWS mode. A harsh movement will damage some internal component and autopilot will remain INOP until fixed.

It's not 30 pounds. It's more like 180 if memory serves me right, but it's definitely mentioned in the Introduction manual, so go read that for your answer.Constant pressure will kick it off, yes.

Had the same thing happen this weekend when I had to avoid a mid-air collision with another aitcraft at FL260. I allways land manually but CMD A was indeed fried for the rest of the flight. I continued with CMD B. No biggy. I had maintenance repair it at the end of the flight.

Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway

Actually i have two very similar stories happened before sp1c and after, one night during cruise,i had knock at door(my wife),i jumped out of cockpit to open door and accidently knoch my joystick forward and ap hoes off, aural sound warning was clearly telling what happen, plane started descent, and i take necessary actions, level off and re engaged with no problems! after week or so installed sp1c,and the similar story striked again-during cruise level 380 knock at the door(my friend) i jumped out of cockpit accidently knoch my joystick forward(i notice it),but no any aural warnings,i thought didn't push it enough to disengage ap,and proceeded in other room with my guest, when i returned cockpit :( plane was dropped from 380 to 070 and continued descent, scanned controls ap still on,but v nav off-and again leveled off engaged v nav,an plane climbed back to cruise-so the lesson is learned ngx pilots(after sp1c) be aware there is NO AURAL WARNING when some of ap channels goes off as result of accidental bump on control column.(and again sorry for my english) :(
