March 21, 201214 yr The big question is, how will it perform in FSX? If it performs 50% better in FSX than the GTX 580, then I'll definately buy it. Luckily my GTX 580 is only a lended one. :)The big question is, how will it perform in FSX? If it performs 50% better in FSX than the GTX 580, then I'll definately buy it. March 21, 201214 yr The big question is... With its 2GB of RAM, won't that be eating precious user space which FSX also uses and get those lovely OOM CTDs some people get, more frequently?Hope i'm making a big mess here and one thing doesn't have anything to do with the other, my 2560x1440 monitor would really love to be fed by a 680 CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11

March 22, 201214 yr I am not sure it will have a massive difference on FSX...though perhaps with a MoBo that supports it, the PCIe3 may improve things slightly...FSX is and always will be more CPU bound and it will tend to be advancements in this area that will have the most impact. Cheers! Iain

March 22, 201214 yr The video memory is handled by the video driver, fsx has nothing to do with it. It looks like the gtx 680 is the card to have with fsx, benchmarks show an extreme performance with ssaa. I will wait for ivy and build a new rig
March 22, 201214 yr $499 US, not bad for the latest technology. Will it help?I have a feeling that Ivy @5+, a new pce3 board, and a gtx 680 will give us a few more frames when landing at KJFK.I will wait for reviews before I commit. MSFS
March 22, 201214 yr It's a powerful card but I'm a bit under-whelmed by its price. Despite being cheaper than the Radeon 7970 it's really a GTX 560 replacement, regardless of the product name, price, and performance. If we just look at the performance, it's right where it needs to be, but knowing more about the manufacturing of this card than the average consumer, it's a tough pill to swallow. If this card drops down to the $299-$349 range it would be a fantastic buy. Also, I hope NV's driver team can stay on top of the compiler development to keep performance up over the life of the card, otherwise they run the risk of developing a reputation much like that of AMD's driver team. It's a powerful card but I'm a bit under-whelmed by its price. March 22, 201214 yr Hey guys I was just wondering. Some people have OOM errors with 2GB and 3GB GPU's. Can't that be fixed by a FSX.CFG tweak? Something like VIDEO_MEMORY_OVERRIDE=xxx? Arjen Vandervelde
March 22, 201214 yr The memory bus with is down to 256-bit when compared to the 384-bit of the 580. How much of a disadvantage will that be?RH
March 22, 201214 yr Commercial Member All the benchmarks I've seen this morning have been stellar - it outclasses even the dual GPU cards from the last generation. The new TXAA mode and the Adaptive VSync look like game changers to me. Will definitely think about getting this card in my next machine when Ivy Bridge comes out. I'm doubtful that it'll improve performance in FSX all that much due to the CPU limited nature of the engine, but the image quality improvement should be pretty massive.
