Hey Robert. Funny how I found that domain name hadn't gone already... Well, if I could make IF's recent progress and lack of updates more interesting I would. :Black Eye:

I have a set of design goals that are changing as I approach each stage of development. The content gets pushed around between versions depending on how things go, and what has risen toward the top of the wish-list. I hate to sound like a stuck LP but the version you have now [se] has proved to be very good and so I’ve been able to move the goalposts and put a few versions together to make a significant update [sf] for all. At the same time we’ll introduce an upgrade DLC featuring a good mixture of popular and pro facilities that were not required for the DVD version, but do not add complexity or make the program feel baggy. Then the P3D version and then more upgrades to the um, upgrades in v [sg].

Thanks for introducing me to this, I downloaded the demo a bit ago, and will give it a try tomorrow, guess I get 10 free flights, which should be enough for anyone to test it out........but I have a question, it shows a lot of flights with the Baron 58, (my default plane), but I use the Carena ado 58, question: will this be picked up in IF10?? Also, since this is a European based program, do all the US airports get programed into the flights??.....As I say, I have not taken the initial flight, so maybe these are answered when I get into it..........but on the surface, it looks like a great addon, even at $50 US, looking to see it in action..........thanks again, B42L8

Treats all planes generically, I should think your fave plane will be good. if you want to use that first, go into the Flight Params for the plane set the range, cruise alt, minimum runway length you want to land at, also climb and descent rates if you like. Once set all your flight will get generated with those values. All the airports in the sim are covered, plus whatever scenery and addon airports you have. Go to the map page and click on the US and choose an airport and use the New Departure button to place yourself there. When you finish a flight check the fuel report in the de-brief and update the range in the flight params for more accurate fuel next flight. Loads more about IF over on the codelegend forum All the best.

Everyone thought they might get an update before now so I'm just letting you know about the current progress with version [sf]. I'm just completing the assimilation of add-in navdata, doing the help files, and, tidying up the carnage. Still several weeks away as there's some feature requests to do and the text translation to be done.

Another snippet demonstrating some of the functionality richness to come. The add-in navdata can be used explicitly, or the actual coordinates of the scenery can be used. In the image the AIRAC Biased Data is selected, this uses the explicit coordinates from the AIRAC data.

Someone asked for Level-D 767 support so I've run through a sequence of setting up IF for the 767FMC. The FMC stuff requires the "Upgrade Pack" more on that soon. PMDG and iFly are also covered in the "first wave".

In the shots I select the directory location of the AIRAC data that installed with the aircraft, then allow the re-indexing process, next I created an "export item" for the LD767, the idea being the IF.rte file is exported to the LD767 flightplan or "co route" folder, I load up a 767 locate myself at a filtered out airport and press the next flight arrow icon, then run the flight with the Fly! button, at the FMC I enter "IF" and press "co route", and there we have the route loaded, now I complete the FMC set up and fly. I also ensured my dll.xml had the correct LD767 entry before running the flight. More in a week or two.

...certainly looks like there's several things to do and worry about, and there is, but I've taken care of things and this is as simple as it gets. After the flight I can just press "Next Flight" and I'm off again. With the first few flights I usually check and update my Range value and adjust my Climb Rates and Cruise Speeds as I "get into" the performance of the plane.

Hey Rich! In the background I'm being supported by some great guys Rich, VeryBumpy, tc, molleh, several others, and AVSIM, thanks for helping and spotting for me. All the best.

Best add-on I bought is undoubtedly Opusfsx... It just takes fsx to another level it could be reached before.

And it's getting better every update!

So why would I use this instead of FSBuild, proATCX and AS2012?

What's Opus got to do with IF then? LOL

Have you tried the demo for yourself?

Opus is a good additional addon as well as Ideal Flight, Opus is not something to have instead of Ideal Flight. LOL. If you want to know more about IF read this review by Mike Camaron, scroll down to the summary http://asn.aerosoft.com/?page_id=14263

IF does an offline global weather simulation, you run Opus and AS off downloaded METARS. IF is a true weather engine that started life pulling METARS off the net, but instead went for a more complicated offline approach since RR weather is nicely done by AS and REX. Opus came along recently. IF does not use the Weather Themes SDK and creates air currents depending on the temperature and conditions of the surface, also winds pinched between buildings. I've got FSBuild, TopCat, FSC, REX, etc. etc. you name it. You can replace them all or use them all with IF, it's up to you. IF supports add-in navdata from [sf] and will incorporate more FMCs over the next few updates. Lets see, have a look at this shot of gliding in the Bahamas. Let's have a look at your gliding in the Bahamas shots with AS and OPUS, default textures and scenery only.
