April 3, 201214 yr http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2631580 it seems Flight will be on steam soon.... nice move to catch more players
April 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member I figured this would happen after Age of Empires Online went Steam. We worked in the same office with them for some time! The thing is, I dont think MS will give up Live. Its part of the core of Flight itself. Its how MS is going to get its money. If they use Steam to SELL DLC, then Steam is getting a good chunk of that. Age of Empires still uses Live on Steam. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
April 3, 201214 yr I'm presuming it will be similar to how Dirt 3, Bioshock 2, and Bulletstorm are on Steam, but still require all DLC to be obtained through the GFWL service. And since the base game is Free 2 Play, I'm presuming (again), that it will be possible for current players to install it through Steam, and still have access to any already paid for DLC through GFWL since DLC is tied to the GFWL username anyhow. I would probably do this just to get native Steam overlay support and playtime tracking.
April 3, 201214 yr Ok, I am old and outdated. is steam just a third party company that will operate on behalf of MS?
April 3, 201214 yr Steam is Valve's digital download gaming service, much like Microsoft's Games for Windows Live Marketplace. You can check it out here: http://store.steampowered.com/ Most people who buy PC games digitally are staunch advocates of Steam. Microsoft's GFWL Marketplace, EA's Origin, and Gamestop's (previously Stardock's) Impuse are some of the other digital download services, but they are pretty much universally abhorred. So to answer the question, Steam enters into agreements to sell and promote publishers' games, much as any retail outlet would. I buy probably 99% of my games through Steam, mainly because Steam tends to have the best sales, and the best features. It's definitely not perfect, but it's better than the competition.
April 3, 201214 yr Steam is pure awesomeness. I really don't buy PC games on disc anymore. Most, if not all are done through Steam. www.stratoart.com Fine Art by Dale Jackson "Oh! I actually purchased my first title through Steam a couple of weeks ago - IL2 Cliffs of Dover. I have to say it was pretty painless, and nice not to have to run out and find it in a store somewhere or wait for boxed delivery from an online retailer. From what I can tell, Steam has a very large following. Don B
April 3, 201214 yr Steam is great, especially the sales (summer and xmas sales being really sweet). I been a member for years and have no complaints. Not sure how to gel all my addons with the steam version tho, i'll have to download and try. -Scotty

The main reason for Flight to have any relationship with "Steam" is to take advantage of their forum software, which allows "Delfina" to have "sticky" threads! The fact that Steam members can download the free base program for Flight from Steam is merely secondary. All content will still be purchased and* delivered via LIVE. *UPDATE: Content may now be purchased via Steam as well. In fact, they have a "Hawaiian Starter Bundle" that includes all three of the RTW DLC components for a savings of $12.98! http://store.steampo....com/sub/14025/ Fr. I can confirm that Origin, in its present form, is quite horrid. I bougth FIFA 12 in a normal store, but Origin is mandatory for playing online. Probably EA is searching to emulate Steam, but at present the service is quite poor. It also created chaos concerning the official support forums, there are conflicts between EA and Origin accounts.
