how to get rid of the annoying roar sound at high altitude?

Featured Replies

Hey,

i know many of you heard how it sounds in real plane when at high altitude, you can not hear the engines, i mean i can actually hear the roar sound from the takeoff at FL360, so how can i get rid of it? it really is annoying. thanks!

Are you using Accufeel ? I have noticed sometimes the engine sounds appear in the cockpit, and have to disable it. Always happens on second leg of flight.

yes, i do.

Ok, disable it and do a flight, and report back. With Accefeel disabled you do not hear the engines.

Kyle sais:

"If you're using ATC, you should have a headset. Even the default FSX settings allow you to send voice to the headset and aircraft sounds to the speakers. Otherwise, yes, you're going to have issues."

True.

And then the speaker volume can be lowered a bit also .. what I do.

I did not say it did. But it can cause the engine sounds to be heard in the cockpit. you don't have to uninstall it, just disable for testing.

I'd say 80% wear Bose or Senheiser ANC at my airline. The numbers have gone up quite a bit in the past few years.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I stand corrected, then.

Would you say people just got tired of the noise, or have the Bose/Senns come down in price some?

The rest of you,

I still stick by the fact that people need their ATC and FSX sounds through different devices, otherwise, it's just not gonna work how you want it.

I'd guess part of it was the former Mad Dog guys being sick of the noise and the rest of us tired of it in general. It really does improve CRM and ATC.

As far as the price, most guys are using Bose QC-15 or QC-2 with UflyMike. It's funny, we keep getting these notes from the company that Bose is giving us discounts on the A-20. I'd guess Bose isn't happy with everyone choosing UflyMike over their own design.

haha - I'd never thought to look at a regular (not aviation-specific) headset and add on a mic like that. Clever.

The (computer) instructor side of me would definitely agree with you on the CRM bit. I definitely don't communicate as much in noisy environments as I do in quieter ones, simply because it takes more effort to speak over the noise. Like right now, in this class with a whole bunch of servers in the back. Teach, sit, say nothing else because yelling requires effort.

My sound are set like this:

- 100% in the fmc sound menu

- engines 41%

- cockpit 100%

- environment 90%

I feel like i just bought the NGX. MUCH MORE REALISTIC NOW !
