Look for the file: PMDG_737_Wind.wav and just add a X to the extension

 

I also have these disabled and its a much more 'ear friendly' cockpit now :-)

Daniel - you may want to familiarize yourself with FSX by experimenting with it's settings, open up the NGX config file and explore it's contents, or explore some other avenue...I think the issue is your inability to solve your perceived sound problem because you're not familiarized enough with FSX and the NGX.

Hey guys, it's not about disable sounds or stuff, at high altitude as you might notice, the engine sound are becoming more no hearable, due to the heavy wind, so in other words, how can i do that i won't hear them at high altitude, that actually what i meant from the first place, thanks everyone.

Daniel, go to FMC Sound page and set master volume to 70-100 depending on what you like :) Thats it, that makes all the sounds higher except the engine ones; it worked for me.

I think you are talking about the fan "whine" vs the combustion "roar"..

It's the fan whine that should diminish at high altitudes.. I believe due to

the less dense air.

You can adjust the fan level if one was adept at modifying the sound.cfg..

At cruise, It seems to kick in a tad over a N1 of say 90+..

You usually don't hear it too much if the N1 speeds are in the 80's..

If you run the 700, you can use the 800 sound files, and it will lower

that whine on the higher N speeds. That's one easy way to do it if using

the 600 or 700.. The 600-700 sound config uses more fan whine than

the 800 sound config.. Or pretty sure anyway..

I've tried it, and it sounds pretty good if you like to reduce the fan whine

a bit. Of course, if you are running the 800, you can't do this, and would

have to edit the sound.cfg to adjust.

And if you did change it, it might make it slightly less realistic at the higher

N speeds at lower altitudes where you should hear that whine..

It's a compromise, and due to the FSX limitations, not much you can do

to get it absolutely perfect at all altitudes.

Right now, I'm using all the standard cfg files.. IE: my 700 is using the 700

sound files and cfg..

But I liked the sound of the 700 using the 800 sound files when I tried it.

The whine seems a bit lower, and less noticeable at cruise.

Haven't decided yet which I like better..

FSX does not give us the flexibility to lower the engine sounds at cruise like you'd hear in real life - it outputs a specific sound at a specific engine N1 - that's it. We try to mask it with the wind, but it's hard to fully remove it.

 

To get around this we'd have to code a fully separate sound engine that bypasses FSX and that's probably not something we're going to do at this point.

Here a solution guys. I was experiencing the same thing, the wind noise was so bad I couldn't even hear my addon ATC program. I bought a few weeks ago Accu-Feel from A2A and then dissable the wind noise from the NGX since Accu-Feel have them in their pkg and now its a whole new experience. Give it a try and hope that helps.

Those airconditioning fans annoy me a lot more. How can you lower those sounds?

Don, Jay or Pic007 explained how to disable the sounds on the first page of this thread. You can do what he said or just remove the sounds like I did and put them in a backup folder.

You could always try flying a few knots above stall. Everything goes very quiet!!! :-)
