April 12, 201214 yr Couldn't resist... One thing s criticizing the absence of a cockpit, the other is stepping into conclusions about how arcadish a given DLC may be because it doesn't have a cockpit... I had to check it myself... The P-51 is hard to fly, if you do not handle it as supposed... It's really far from being an arcade plane... Accelerated stalls are real killers in this bird, just like in the Real Thing, according to many sources. Really enjoying the feel, and those CTRL-E / CTRL-Q do miracles :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
April 12, 201214 yr Nice, when more aircraft with no cockpit are released I can remember this post, LOL. Best, Michael KDFW
April 12, 201214 yr Really enjoying the feel, and those CTRL-E / CTRL-Q do miracles :-) By this, are you saying you are mainly flying from within the cockpit shell? If so, how do you like it? Or are you mainly flying exterior view? I have said all along I will not buy a plane without a somewhat working cockpit. I must admit however, I would not mind having the P51 knowing that I can at least fly with what would feel like inside the cockpit, even though nothing in it works. Don B
April 12, 201214 yr Commercial Member Arcade plane can feel right too. Systems are what make the difference for me.
April 12, 201214 yr Sure it's hard to fly. You can't see it right nor "feel" it when you are flying from behind. April 12, 201214 yr Sure it's hard to fly. You can't see it right nor "feel" it when you are flying from behind. Feels the same to me whether i fly it from behind or inside the cockpit, but then again i dont have a full motion simulator so i wouldnt know.
April 12, 201214 yr I only fly the P51 now after moving the eyepoint into the cockpit. It's much more fun that way (and far more exciting on landing). I'd rather have a working cockpit, but the HUD has all the vital info I need to keep it flying and the flight model seems pretty good, so I'm happy. It was half the price of the Maule, after all.
April 12, 201214 yr I only fly the P51 now after moving the eyepoint into the cockpit. It's much more fun that way (and far more exciting on landing). Interesting, as that is the only way I will fly I must say I am more tempted now to purchase it. I will have to sleep on it and see. Thanks for the feedback, Don B
April 13, 201214 yr I finally purchased the Zero, and while I cant pretend to know how accurately it fly's, I do know that it definitely has its very own feel, different than that of any other plane in flight. April 13, 201214 yr Arcade plane can feel right too. Systems are what make the difference for me. So the flight model doesn't matter at all so long as you can program the FMC to do all the flying for you?
April 13, 201214 yr Arcade plane can feel right too. Systems are what make the difference for me. Can you point to a game that is considered to be arcade and that has at the same time FM as convincing as flight? Other then that I understand why you are unhappy, of course - I haven't bought P-51 myself, as I am interested in learning to use the systems :) Hawaii!
April 13, 201214 yr Author I would to, but I am saving for Alsaka... I'll buy it depending on the price they put for Alaska...
