Plane cockpit tease..
I never had an electronic flight computer, I've always had to use an E6B for my flight calculations. On my cross-country nav excercises my instructor threw in pleny of diversions and made sure I had no choice but to use the whizz-wheel.

This was the make or break for flight...
Compared to what $15 would get you from a third party developer, I'd consider Alaska to be money well spent. Doubly so if there's a deluxe version of the Cub on the way.

Sad sad news about our Carbon Cub
I'm not sure that's how I'd interpret it - the way I read it, if the basic version is free, there could be a deluxe version you have to pay for.

I said I would not, but now I did it - the P51
There's a substantial crossover between gamers and simmers anyway. When I started gaming, flight sims were still quite popular as a mainstream gaming genre. It's only relatively recently that this schism between gamers and simmers has become an issue.

The P-51 feels right!....
So the flight model doesn't matter at all so long as you can program the FMC to do all the flying for you?
-
MS pulling an Orbx now...?
Convenience, really. I already use Steam for most of my games, why not Flight as well?

Multiplayer Idiots
I don't play multiplayer all that often, but when I do I like to pick some poor, unsuspecting player and join formation right alongside them. No crashing, no sudden dangerous aerobatics, just getting close enough to say hi.

New A/C available.
I'm kind of torn here. On one hand, the A5M2 Zero is one of my favorite old warbirds, on the other hand I just can't fly from a third-peson view.Eh, I might grab it if I've got the Xbox Live points to spare.

POLL: What feature would most improve FLIGHT?
It might sound pretty silly, but I kind of want more choices for pilot portraits. I tend to just go nuts in any game that allows you to customize your character.

Joshua Howard Interview with AVSIM
If you think that's bad, try playing any Ubisoft game without an Internet connection.

I've moved to X-Plane...
And I was getting ready with a good old fashioned rant too.

Flight simulation back in 1970 on a PDP-1 and PDP-10
What's this? No global scenery? It doesn't have 24,000 airports? Where are the heavy jets? Bah where's the coin slot, this isn't a flight sim!</sarcasm>

Prepar3D.....Home and Academic Licence $49!
I've got a stack of Commercial Pilot License theory books I have yet to make a start on, I think that counts.
-
Bad Look
"Have you tried turning it off and on again" isn't just a joke from The IT Crowd.

Just Flew A Job And...
Rule 1: The pilot is always right.Rule 2: If the pilot is ever wrong, see Rule 1.
