April 13, 201214 yr I'm not sure why, considering that it's an excellent movie. It was more of a joke really. I am a Canadian so I have every right to make fun of my fellow countrymen and women (James Cameron & Celine Dion). I wasn't a big fan of the Jack and Rose characters and thought the love story was cheese. And I can't stand that Celine Dion song. But I come from a part of Canada (Halifax) that told Celine Dion not to play there and she cancelled her concerts due to bad local press :LMAO: James Cameron is now my neighbour once again as he just bought a house in New Zealand not far from me. He plans to live here permanently and film the next Avatar films after the Hobbit finishes production. I've seen him in the neighbourhood a few times. April 13, 201214 yr Author Think you got the date wrong. The Titanic struck an iceberg late on the 14th April 1912 and sank in the early hours of the 15th April 1912. http://en.wikipedia....iki/RMS_Titanic RJ. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh my, I always thought it was the 12th of April. I read this account and it collided on the 14th, and sank on the 15th. Glad you posted that....I am now corrected for my own information. :) You know...with such things as the paranormal....one could easily imagine (with 1520 dying within seconds to minutes of each other...) what visual ghostly episodes will be seen or felt, at the precice moment of impact....and ontowards the last of the stern slipping under the surface.... I wonder if any organization has ever thought to be onsite in any of these last 100 years, to see if anything actually did/does occur.... If a paranormal episode can happen....you'd absolutely imagine this would be a red-hot spot on the planet....
April 13, 201214 yr The ironic part about the sinking of the Titanic is that the ship would almost certainly have survived if they had simply rammed the iceberg head on! That is true. Also turning the engines to full reverse, which even caused them to momentarily stop, slowed down the turn significantly compared to full speed turning capability of the ship. But it is always easy to have 20/20 hindsight. Natural thing was to try to avoid the collision and thus steer away and slow down. It was also probably very difficult to estimate the distance to the Iceberg in the darkness and evaluate the chances to avoid the collision with selected measures. Everything happened quite fast and I think not a single first officer or captain in the world would have chosen to go straight towards the iceberg or continue with full speed.

Well seeing that you told us that you got that shudder down your spine on the wrong day, I am forced to wonder if the whole paranormal thing is not just a load of hogwash But, if it floats your boat (pun intended) then good for you. April 13, 201214 yr Interesting chatter out in the twittersphere/reddit about how a smattering of kids didn't realize that the movie Titanic was based on a real event.... Funny and sad all at the same time... -Greg

It came from inner feelings generated at that time when 1,520 lives were extinguished in within a half-hour, while the rest of the world slept soundly in their warm beds.... Come the 15th of April, at 2:20 a.m.......being a human being, I highly anticipate another self-same reaction.....and remembrance for lives so tragically, and quickly lost. Mitch

People can be spiritual in nature. One person may feel something during the aniversary of this event while for another the time will pass and they won't even know about it. April 14, 201214 yr I actually live in the last port of call the Titanic called at... Had allot of celebrations this week in my local town, "Which I thought was a bit OTT!"
April 14, 201214 yr Sinking of Titanic was perhaps one of the first truly big international maritime catastrophes and thus getting wide media attention along the whole Europe and North America. Although my homeland was extremely small country at the time, and still is, there were still 63 of my countrymen onboard the ship (at least based on the passenger list).
April 14, 201214 yr Had Titanic made it safely to New York that day, everyone on board would be dead now, and the ship would probably have been scrapped years ago. Just like her sister.

The Britannic and the Lusitania were horrible losses. At least in the Britannic very few workers died, like 5. I think White Star Line learned their lesson from the Titanic on the Britannic. It had emough lifeboats. It was a beautiful ship. They also made a movie of it in 2000. What a waste, really. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

DGBarnes probably meant the Olympic, which was the sister of Titanic and Britannic and she was scrapped in the late 30's simply as an outdated ocean liner. Olympic is nowhere as iconic as Titanic or even Britannic probably because she didn't suffer the harsh fate of her sisters. Titanics legend lays on her fate in her early days, when she represented the best man could put out on the seas. Where are you from? Finland
