April 6, 201610 yr From the seat in the cockpit does it make any real difference whether it's an ER or LR? Other than maybe an EPR gauge depending on engine type? Performance and fuel burn, which are noticeable. Also, for most simmers, the external model is very important as well. If it wasn't PMDG and others wouldn't go through the trouble of making such detailed exteriors. Flying a BA, AF, KL, UA, or AA -200LR simply doesn't look right. This ties into the general realism factor which is somewhat spoiled by knowing you are flying an LR on a flight that doesn't call for it. I'm not sure, but there may be minor differences in cockpit layout as well.
April 6, 201610 yr In real life, the ER is the most popular and most abundant, the LR, the least. Gnacino

September 21, 20169 yr Is it looking likely this will lose out to NGX v3 after 744 release? It'd be such a shame to forget about it...Cheers,Alex Macdonald
September 21, 20169 yr Commercial Member Say someone were to plan a trip somewhere down the road, and then they mention taking another trip somewhere else at some point. Does this mean that they've forgotten their first vacation destination? Apart from a mere mention in a livestream, we really haven't talked much about updating the NGX. We haven't discussed anying about it, specifically. Until such a time that an official announcement comes it, let's avoid the baseless conjecture, please. Kyle Rodgers

April 5, 20179 yr The lack of a -200ER was what stopped me from buying the 777 series. I don't have an interest in flying the -200LR, and although I don't have a problem with the -300ER, I'd much prefer to have the option of being able to jump between the -200ER and -300ER rather than be stuck with the -300ER. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
April 6, 20179 yr Library Administrator Wow someone dug up an old post here. Kevin, just curious here. Besides the raked wings that the LR has over the ER, what else is preventing you from flying the LR? Other then the wings, they look identical (sans things like RR engines), also Panel wise, is there any difference? Brian A. April 8, 20179 yr Brian for me the big difference would be the engine power when iam flying to new york in the sim for example from amsterdam with a full load like the real T7 around the69000kg marker it just takes of like a rocket without any weight in it. this spoils the entire experience of flying a heavy aircraft wich would be there if you where to be in an 777-200er. this is what does it for me Gerben Lei

WEL, that's part of it, as the Boeing 777-200ER I have in my fleet is powered by Pratt & Whitney engines. There just doesn't seem to be much of a challenge in flying a plane that can fly to virtually any two points around the world with 115,000 pounds of thrust. I guess for me personally, I like to fly what's in my fleet, as I switched to the PMDG Boeing 747-400 from the Project Opensky Boeing 747-400. Although I do have a Boeing 777-200LR and a Boeing 777-300ER in my fleet, I find that when I fly the 777, I don't fly either as much as I do the Boeing 777-200ER.
