Paro for FSX released

Featured Replies

I would like to inform all my FSX friends that the excellent scenery of Paro is now available for the FSX platform too. :good:

I am using it in FS9 and it's great. A really good product, however I cannot tell you how it works under FSX.

It is a great place in reality (Bhutan, HImalaya) and one of the world's top most dangerous approaches.

I wish great landings to all who are interested.

Nice, thanks for the heads up. Might have to get this one, that's a cool approach. Good price too.

Great scenery and amazing raw data approach!

Great video. This was as close for me as being a real pilot sitting in the cockpit. Even as a flight simmer I doubt if I could have made a good landing like they did in real life. I would have boken my joystick by gripping it so tight trying to line up with rwy and braking. In fact I got tense just watching them land. I noticed the pilots didn't say a word but they were awfully calm.

Just bought this scenery for FSX, (note that you need to also install this file from Avsim in order to sort out the mesh so the terrain matches the airport, and I had to do that manually):

The scenery is very good, with a much better representation of where the airport sits in relation to the terrain compared to the default scenery, you can finally use the river as a visual reference for your approach. Had scenery on full settings and was also recording FRAPs whilst landing the JF DC-6 there and still got good FPS in spite of FRAP buffering. The vid is uploading to Youtube right now, I'll link it when it completes.

Quick landing in the JF DC-6 (not what you'd call textbook) with this scenery and the freebie mesh:

The scenery looks really good. I will get that. What sounds are you using for the JFDC-6. I like them!

That a bit of AccuFeel, I altered it from the default AccuFeel profile slider settings to where I've got it squeaking and rattling a bit and with noisy brakes. All the other sounds are the JF ones, it was the Swissair one, whatever variant that is.

Distance from Bhutan to Katmandu = around 350 miles.. So Aerosoft's Lukla would go with this scenery

Now, if only someone would do Katmandu

Actually it is for FS9 but I believe an FSX version will also be created, just like it was with Paro.

So just train your patience!

Al,

I hate your posts - all of them, everytime you review something either in print or video I end up buying it............ :Money Eyes:

Thanks for the video, I've been looking for this as an FSX destination for so long, can't wait to try to get the NGX into that airport.

Cheers,

Pete

Not guilty M'Lud, It was Rafal who started this one off. My wallet was hiding before this thread started. :LMAO:

Damn! You just made me spend money! :Money Eyes:

I don't know exactly how this addication is called, but with a lot (to many) of addons I get this irresistible urge to buy them. Regardless if I will fly with/to them a lot. I just need to have them as part of my FSX world.... Kathmandu will be another no-brainer, just like upcomming:

- Aerosoft Heraklion X

- Aerosoft Helsinki X

- OrbX Jackson Hole

- FSDT Vancouver

- FlyTampa Montreal

- etc, etc
