May 16, 201214 yr Peeps be playing some old games! I have been playing a lot of Fable 3 tho, so I am just as responsible. Aaron
May 17, 201214 yr This is 2 full months after release. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
May 17, 201214 yr On the other hand, it's hard to interpret this type of data since most of the games listed here can be played without logging into live at all (you can use a "offline" profile, which will then never log in Live). In other words, whenever there is a single player game in this list, the stats is most likely underestimating the number of active players. This is even true for the number Flight users: some might have used it without ever logging into Live to get the Stearman (but then I guess they're not continuing users). In any case, it's still good news to see it somewhere towards the top! At the very least it must means it has not been a disaster in terms of exposure, and it also means Microsoft can see their product up there when they assess what are the important assets which make Live live :)

This listing/ranking has nothing whatever to do with MS LIVE. It only relects usage by those who've downloaded/installed via Steam. IOW, only "Steam" users are counted. There could be thousands more who're uncounted since they are MS LIVE customers only... Edit: Nevermind. I'm getting confused too easily in my dottage... :vava: Fr. May 17, 201214 yr Hi Folks Bill - The list is the official MS LIVE unique users weekly report. IIRC MS stated that listing also includes STEAM users. HTH ATB Paul ODG Preview
May 17, 201214 yr Major Nelson is the gamertag for Larry Hryb, who is Programming Director for XBox Live. He posts the list of most played games on the Live network by Unique Users. I am told (by Bill!) that all Steam players play through the Live network; if so, then this list reflects all users of Flight, except I imagine a very, very small number who play off-line. After more than 2 months since release, and in spite of the airplanes without cockpits and gripes, Flight is still among the most-played GFWL games. We can imagine that Alaska (when it finally arrives, oh! happy day!) will propel Flight to the very top. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
May 17, 201214 yr Hello Not many Steam users then. Seems there are 1096 members of the Steam Flight! group with 87 in game at the moment and 286 online. Seems like GFWL is more popular

Seems like GFWL is more popular More popular, based on what hard numbers? Maybe I missed something, but all I saw was a popularity ranking without any "population" totals for GFWL. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if the Steam numbers at least approached the GFWL-only numbers, based on Steam's immense user-base (and GFWL's relatively tiny one).
May 18, 201214 yr Moderator Bill - The list is the official MS LIVE unique users weekly report. Thanks. I sit corrected (in the corner with the DUNCE cap on). Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 18, 201214 yr A certain amount of confusion, those Steam figures are for people who have registered for the Steam Flight forum, not those who play Flight through Steam. Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
May 18, 201214 yr A certain amount of confusion, those Steam figures are for people who have registered for the Steam Flight forum, not those who play Flight through Steam. Hello Luiz On Steam typically there are around 80 players of Flight! actually in game at any time with possibly 200-250 logged in to Steam. 80 in game out of 3 to 4 million users logged on to the network at any one time is not very good at all. And Steam is the most visible gaming network on the planet, far more popular than GFWL. The figures at the time i post this are: 1,105 Members | 79 In-Game | 310 Online

I do not seem to be a member of that Steam group. I play the Steam version of Flight, and am also active on the Steam Flight Forum. I'm actually in-game with Flight at this time and am not showing up. I assume you have to choose to join this group, and that there is no real incentive to do so? That does not appear to be a reliable way to gather population numbers, as you are seeing only a subset of the actual population. How small a subset, there is no way to know.

Conversely, I am a "member" of that group, yet I exclusively use the RTW version from MS LIVE and have absolutely nothing bought via Steam. Fr.
